IU Basketball Fan Bubble Rooting Guide: What Can Help IU

@mushroomgod

I agree to a point. This team has been non-surprising and exactly what most of us thought they would be on the court. Off the court, there are no real awesome stories for players. Much of that is due to a lack of opportunity to get to connect with them. So, yes it's been a little boring and stale.

However, there are real stakes tonight and that makes it interesting no matter what your personal feelings are on the team. Is it a 10/10 on the interesting meter? No, but it is interesting because IU is still in the mix and the season could abruptly end tonight. It's also March so people look forward to it and there is a small buzz.

Someone (like Bailey) who says "we're motivated for the BTT" is essentially admitting motivation has been lacking. If that's not the case, why does it need to be articulated?

I'd rather have a physically weak team than a mentally weak one. Unfortunately, IU is both.

Just my philosophical opinion.

@gthomas It definitely is a red flag and a fair takeaway especially when people don't ask follow ups (we rarely get the opportunity to do so).

Ideally, you'd like to be strong in both areas (that's why football was 16-0), but a a mentally weak, but physical team is harder to be successful than the other way around.

@thehoosierhuddle I don't agree with the word "never" at all.  It doesn't take a basketball purist to find really cool, fun, and interesting concepts in CDD's system.  At times, its been some of the most beautiful basketball played at IU since the early 90s, for me anyway.  The obvious problem is it doesn't stick around long enough for anyone to get used to it, or in any way expect it.

I've checked off potential things to hope for, as this team has folded various times throughout the year.  My current one is that maybe CDD is going to be a very good tournament conditions coach, at IU.  We'll start to get a glimpse on whether there's anything there, or not, tonight.

@iunorth TKR killed us last game. I can't remember what type of game he had in Bloomington, but he had a stretch of games where he looked like he lost confidence. If he wasn't affective in Bloomington, it was more him than anything our defense did. I agree that limiting Loyer, Cox and Benter is crucial to beating them, but right now we are making West look like a fudging All- Star, let alone Martenelli. Our defense looks horrible. I bet UN didn't score over 60 points against anyone except us, Penn St and Rutgers. I don't know that fore sure, I'm just spouting off, but they are 14-18 for a reason. Kicking our ass right now.

Yup.  Gameplan was good.  First 10 minutes or so were good.  They’ve gotten their asses beaten since then.  Broken record.

Our opening gameplan looked great.

NW moved their defense further out a bit, and we folded like a cheap suit. When they doubled on the ball we looked like deer in headlights.

I updated the rooting guide and added channel assignments as well. We all have our thoughts on the IUBB season and most of them are in the disappointed category, but the bubble is so weak IU has a shot. We'll keep updating as the day goes on. If I missed a game, let me know and I'll add it.

They is no possible way we are still on the bubble or does lunardi still have us in.

All we can do now to help, is to forget this season. May require drinking.

Then with no memories, we can start with possibly misplaced optimism. There is always next year.

Go Hoosiers!

Lunardi probably has IU as a 6-seed right now. He's simply a high-paid moron.

@arioznahoosier4554 after losing it should be over.

Still first 4 out.

Miami of Ohio losing probably means the MAC gets 2 bids.  On the other hand, Missouri is among the last 4 in and getting beat by Kentucky

Absolutely per the very vaunted lunardi we still got a shot after losing 6 of the last 7. Time to bubble watch baby.

I've never understood exactly what that is supposed to mean? We're projected as in, but could be bumped by an unexpected winner in a conference tournament? Is that "in in" or play-in game in?
