While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. @tjinman1987 Thanks for the fine report! Based on the recruiting efforts of DeVries and his staff, it's apparent there is a plan behind the work taking place.

@tjinman1987 one issue with nil and the portal is about the recruiting of freshmen. Will we do it a lot because we coach a kid up and then he leaves? I could see schools not wanting them. Just get them later after a few seasons under their belt

I'm definitely in the camp of having a world class high school recruiting machine in Btown. Complimented by the portal ... just have to think properly recruited high school players will stick with the program longer than a portal.   Not all of them of course but a good amount

@tjinman1987 I saw him at the UAA event in Georgia Saturday morning.  He was watching Atlanta Express v KC Run GMC 16U.  Not sure what players he would have been watching…handful of really good players in that game though.

If IUBB is winning, it's not hard to keep freshman we want to keep with our top-10 payroll.  Our freshman won't have many other options that would pay as much or more than IU, and again, if IU is a top-20 program like we hope, they won't have much reason to leave.

The angst over high school recruits transferring is overblown.  We want these kids because we can keep them in the program over several years and they will help us build the foundation IUBB badly needs.

We'll go after the top guys we want and if they're working out we'll spend the money to keep them.  Yeah, some will slip away for various reasons but at some point there will be a healthier mix of HS recruits and portal additions.

Anthony Thompson was outrageous in nearly each game he played for Indiana Elite this past weekend. He's the picture of what today's NBA "4" looks like.

In my opinion, the weekend for Latrell Allmond played out perfectly for IU. He was good, but not truly great. I say it that way because if Allmond would have been awesome on that evaluation stage, there's a chance schools like North Carolina (his purported "dream school" when he was younger) may have jumped in full force. As is, I doubt Allmond moved up the list for UNC or UK or Duke. As I've written many times before, IU is the leader for Allmond and I still believe he ends up a Hoosier.

As poster @Red X accurately pointed out, IU made the top seven "finalists" list for top 15 prospect Miika Muurinen. He's really skilled and a fantastic looking player but I do not think there is much reason to pay attention to this recruitment yet. If IU gets a visit, that changes.

I'm confident IU's staff is working really hard and targeting the right kind of guys. They watched a lot of 2027 recruits but for now, the focus remains on the 2026 class and building that out. With Prince Alexander-Moody, it appears to me that IU would like to pair him with Latrell Allmond, one more guard (Deron Rippey Jr. and Jordan Smith Jr. are the big fish here), a big guy (Ethan Taylor and Arafan Diane look most likely at this stage) and then another wing/glue guy like Aiden Derkack. Now, this is not a draft and the coaching staff has to land those targets but that's the type of structure to the class they were focusing on this weekend based on who they were spending time watching (and being seen) at key AAU events this past weekend.

Yes as always, winning fixes everything. Winning leads to being top-20, leads to more NIL donors, leads to more revenue, leads to attracting and signing the best players, leads to more winning.

@tjinman1987 Didn't even know that AAU tournament had returned to Rock Hill. I was out Friday night and walked by a restaurant in our neighborhood and noticed a group of tall teens coming out of the ice cream shop and thought there was probably an AAU tourney here. Passed a pizza place next and a bunch of kids were outside it and one had an IN Elite jersey on. Jon Scheyer was at a restaurant across the street the next day. Wish I'd known, I'd have tried to get over there.

@kkott Peach Jam occurs in Augusta, Georgia this coming weekend...always the culmination of the Nike EYBL season. I thought about making the drive from Clemson to Rock Hill for a day of basketball but personal, professional and family obligations made that impossible.

2026 wing Cole Cloer (top 30 prospect) has IU in his top eight schools. He's a really good shooter and developing shot creator off the dribble. If that second area of his game continues to improve, he becomes a highly impactful player in college. Cloer had a game with 29 points in the first half at last weekend's Nike EYBL event.

@tjinman1987 Appreciate your comments about the "big picture" of IU recruiting for the 2026 class. Two questions: Are the Hoosiers one of the leaders in the quest to sign Anthony Thompson? What's your guess on the approximate percent of top 150 prospects that would be signed by end of 2025?

@tjinman1987 UAA (Under Armour) Finals are in Chicago this weekend as well.  There must be at least 1 IU prospect there, as DeVries was in the Atlanta area (Emerson), this past Saturday morning for one of UAA's last big live events...Izzo and Painter were also there at one point as well as many others, I'm sure.

@bigmike Anthony Thompson has really turned into an elite prospect and he validated that with multiple 30+ point games this past weekend. IU is pursuing and has for a long time. They are one of the serious contenders for him. That written, Michigan State, Michigan and Kentucky are also in there. I think he'll stay in the Midwest but Auburn is after him as well. My prediction: Latrell Allmond commits to IU and Anthony Thompson chooses elsewhere.

Approximate percent of Top 150 recruits that are signed by the end of the calendar year? I really don't know how revenue sharing is going to impact that so I'll make a total guess and say 50%.
