@iunorth We need to beat Marquette. opening day game I can't sell tickets for 14 bucks. I have bleacher seats right behind the bench (best seats in the hall) all the way down to 125 a ticket.
Yeah need to win that one for sure. Archie blew them out last time we played them at the Hall. Will be a bad look and shrink fan support if we lose.
@dbmhoosier the hall is going to be empty Wednesday. I’m shocked how many people don’t GAF. I guess I should be looking in the mirror. I’m for sure in the top % of fans that care, and I have the least enthusiasm I’ve ever had. Better win ladies.

It will come back. The Miller and Woodson years would have tanked any program. If we can win the games we're supposed to, look like we belong when we lose, and steal a couple in the process, the fans will respond. Me, I too have very few fucks left to give, but I'll be watching and expecting us to be competitive. If we're not competitive and look like we're outclassed and/or outcoached, that's when I'll throw in the towel. This year the W/L record won't matter (to me) as much as the eye test. Give me something to cheer for and I'll be good with it.
@cavanagh yeah. That’s not a good place to start. Bombing a bunch of threes and blowing out Bama A&M would be nice. I do think the style will attract and energize the students and that’s a big deal. But for the general public, you’re right, beating Marquette is hugely important. If we don’t, we still have 2 chances to flip that script in Louisville and UK. Important first week though.

CBB isn’t what it used to be.
If we're a good basketball team, at the end of the day we'll have plenty of fan interest. Much of our fanbase is now dormant after the last 10 years, but most are not gone for good.
Our fans also have an alternative now with football, which has been giving them their fix in terms of IU athletics. This means people are generally not itching for basketball season to start. So early games, especially cupcakes like Alabama A&M, aren't going to be very well attended. And the team will need to be decent to get fans engaged once the FB regular season ends.
I don't see this as an issue. FB is king in college sports and against all the odds we're good at that. The guy who built up FB has hired what appears to be a good MBB coach and given him pretty healthy resources to build a program. It won't happen overnight, as in we aren't going to do anything exciting this season -- maybe win one tourney game. But that would be a success and set us up for year 2 of CDD where we can be a consistently ranked team. Rebuilding after 25 years of mediocrity and four years of Woodson damage will take time and there is just no way around it.
On the bright side, lower ticket prices gives more IUBB fans and their families a chance to get to AH without breaking the bank.
Having UK back on the schedule is a good thing for building interest. Win or lose maybe, but would help to win our share.
No team I'd rather IU beat than Kentucky.
Purdue is close, but I consider beating Purdue almost a right.
@openwheel Then our rights have been violated far too often in recent years!
@mobilehoosier Absurd take. We may not have the talent to win the Big Ten this year. But we have a 1st team All conference candidate in Tucker DeVries. And we have a handful of other guys that will compete for other all conference awards in Wilkerson, Conerway, Bailey, and possibly even Alexis. And we have no clue yet how good guys like Dorn, Harris, and/or either of the foreign kids will be.
You'd probably have turned off 3 of of their 4 competitive games so far between the summer games and Baylor. We haven't lost a game yet. Obviously we're going to lose games this year. And its possible we get blown out in some games. But I suspect that won't happen often, and they've shown themselves to be a team that's good at rallying and making in game adjustments. You'll miss a lot of good basketball, and some exciting finishes, I'm sure, if you turn games off early this year.
@iunorth You were correct and I wanted to acknowledge your comments about my negative take. I loved watching the team play modern hoops last night. Still think we are light inside but modern hoops in B-town and fundamentals were on display. Very Cool! Go Hoosiers!
Now I know why you posted this Cavanaugh
From the television view the crowd size appeared to be very good for the Alabama A&M game. Any posters at the game that can respond regarding size of the attendance?
@twenty I’ve paid you off in too many ways. Elite 8! Jesus I was a moron.
There’s a contest, who’s wrong more.
shooter or cav?
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
@joe_hoopsier huh? Connor is god awful. Legit Leal. I’ve been right on everything so far.
stop drinking on sundays.
