@dbmhoosier did you see Maryland's million dollar player get injured? Absolutely gruesome. He's done for the year.

@hooky close game
Turned it over at the half and didn't get back to it until the end. I watched the wrong half, but saw the best 3 min stretch.

@dbmhoosier That hurt to look at, I can imagine about 4 major injuries that could result from that split. That floor must have been really wet.
UK currently getting rolled by Sparty.
Rutger is trash. Sparty looks tough.

Thought I's throw out some early #s for BT players, from ESPN:
Scoring top 10: Thornton, OSU 25.3; Tyson, MN 23.4; Martinelli, NW 20.5; Boyd, WIS 20.0; Stirtz, Iowa 19.8; Blackwell, WIS 19.5; Grant, RU 19.3; Wilkerson, IU 18.8; Rice, USC 18.7; Baker-Mazara, USC 18.7; Boswell, ILL 18.5
Rebounds: Sheinbach, WA 12.8; Mirkovic, ILL 12.5; Crocker-Johnson, MN 12.0; Kohler, MSU 11.3; Cluff, Purdue 11.0; Mara, UM 10.3; Bittle, OR 9.8; Winter, WIS 9.3; Cofie, USC 8.7; Page, NW 8.3 (IU leader-DeVries 6.5)
FG%: Banks, Iowa 78.9; Ausar, USC 73.9; Mara, UM 72.7; Payne, MD 71.0; Baker, UCLA 69.7; Foigueiras, Iowa 69.6; Page, NW 66.7; Thornton 65.3; Johnson, UM 63.3; Mara, UM 63.0
3 Point %: Stewart, PSU 64.7; Thornton 56.5; Loyer PUR 51.9; Wilkerson 51.7; Blackwell 50.0; DeVries 45.5; McKenney, UM 44.4; Boswell, ILL 43.5; Colt, MD 42.3; Sandfort, NEB 41.9
3 pointers made: DeVries 3.8; Wilkerson 3.8; Loyer 3.5; Shelstad OR 3.3; Sandfort 3.3; Thornton 3.3; Blackwell 3.3; Colt 2.8; Mobley 2.8; Stewart, PSU 2.8
Assists: Fears, MSU 10.3; Smith, PUR 8.5; Rice, USC 7.3; Cadeau UM 7.3; Dent, UCLA 7.0; Conerway 6.5; Stirtz 6.3; Reid, NW 5.8; Shelstad 5.0; Asuma, MN 4.8
Some random thoughts:
1. I never really like Thornton as a 'star' player, but it looks like he's there now--25.3 ppg, shooting 56.5% on 3s and 65.3% overall....but, oddly, not in the top 10 per game in assists.
2. Again, never thought that much about Rodney Rice, now at USC, but he's averaging 18.7 pts, 7.3 assists and 6.0 rebs per game. He's more of a complete player than he was in the past.
3. The two top rebounders are both foreign freshman. Seeing that Devries leads us with 6.5 per game highlights everyone's concerns on the topic.
4. I haven't seen Iowa yet this year, but I thought going in Stirtz was as good as anyone in the BT....averaging 19.9 with 6.3 assists per game.
5. Boyd is looking like a portal steal for Wisconsin.
6. USC seems to have some players....
7. Boswell from Illinois was a good portal pickup for them last year...averaging 18.5 points while shooting 50% from 3.
8. Cordeau from Michigan is averaging 7.3 assists per game but leads the BT in TOs by a lot--4.0 per game. Conerway is 6th in asisists, tied for 4th with 4 other players in TOs with 2.5
4. I haven’t seen Iowa yet this year, but I thought going in Stirtz was as good as anyone in the BT….averaging 19.9 with 6.3 assists per game.
I watched them last weekend. They're on their way to being relevant based on the 1 game.. Fun to watch and they play hard on both ends of the floor, which wasn't exactly an Iowa hallmark under Fran.

@hooky I think Iowa is good, but those who said McCollum's slow-paced offense wouldn't fly in high D1 are so right: The Hawks only average 90 ppg.
@hooky It's nice to see Rice trying out different defensive methods. Might as well.
