All major outlets are reporting that Bruce Pearl is retiring effective immediately.
Rumors are he's gonna run for a political office.
Crazy
Good coach… won 68% of his games.
Not a fan of his son taking over. Nepotism in coaching hasn’t seemed to work.

Probably why he retired now and not several months ago. Didn't want Auburn to have time to look for anyone else. I think Tony Bennett did the same thing for one of his assistants. He should've retired a while ago. Not a fan of the timing.

A 14 minute farewell…
@dbmhoosier There was never going to be a search. I’m not a huge fan of nepotism, but I really like what Steven brings. They wanted continuity, Auburn is a different place.
GOAT SHITPOSTER
He already said that he is no longer running for office. He’s gonna be part of the AD, loves living at Lake Martin. All major outlets are reporting that Bruce Pearl is retiring effective immediately.

The vampire at Wisconsin did it for Greg Gard too.
He either does it now or in 3/4 years when they have to reload again. I was never a fan of him coming to IU but that did keep him at my alma mater. The timing is suspect. Right before practices start, so nobody will leave. If he would've done it in April, it would've been a complete rebuild much like IU.
Timing a retirement just to lock players into a new coaching staff is pretty lousy. I can’t help but wonder how many players would have left, or never signed with Auburn, if Bruce had made this announcement back in April.
It was a bad move when Tony Bennett retired in August 2024, and it’s even worse to pull something like this in September.
