@cavanagh you're absolutely right...fan support was lacking due to break. And tbh, I only watched because I set my calendar to remind me. Once FB is done I'll be more active....other important university business to deal with lol
Bailey was absolutely horrid in the first half (couldn’t finish [as usual], made a few boneheaded passes, and played as soft as ever). I loved seeing Coach DeVries stare him down during that first-half timeout.
That said, he came out in the second half as aggressive as I’ve ever seen him. In the postgame, Coach DeVries mentioned that Bailey plays with that level of aggressiveness in practice, so hopefully he can start carrying it over into games consistently before B1G play begins.

@cavanagh Gonna take awhile, but this team, if they keep playing like this, will change attitudes. Football being so good, coupled with CDD not being a flashy hire, has siphoned off some interest for sure. But, Hoosiers didn't stop being bball fans. They looked great last night, played hard and played a fun brand of bball. Folks will get behind this team.
I felt certain that Bailey and Enright would make you eat your words. Again, it's not Baileys fault that we didn't recruit another dog underneath to defend and rebound, so he's having to help out. If we had a 6'9"+ dog underneath, I think this could be a top 10 team, and Bailey could really be flourishing on the perimeter and not hurt us by not being able to defend a 5. You know what's coming right? Enright is going to be on Braden and our hopes of beating them might rest on him doing well in that match up. If he can stay out of foul trouble, I think he can do his part.

In fairness, Sampson was a damn good coach. But he shouldn’t have been hired because he clearly hadn’t learned his lesson yet not to cheat.
@pryght Again, not Bailey's fault that CDD didn't recruit another guy to defend and rebound and deal with other team's 5s. Because we don't have that guy, he's having to play out of position. With that guy, I think this could be a top 10 roster, and Bailey could really flourish. He's a terrific ball-handler and passer. As it is, we're going to have to play him out of position a lot. CDD had to bring in an entirely new roster, but from what I see, that's the biggest miss and I think it will be costly when we get to the B10.
@kkott he for sure did not “have to” being in a new roster. Malik would also make this team top 10. Should have went all in on him. People saying he’s a black hole and selfish are dumb. Woody was the dumb one. Malik is one of the best post players in the nation.
@cavanagh MR would have struggled to run up and down the floor with this group. And he still doesn't have a jumpshot. His defender would stand 5 feet and eliminate all the back cuts off MR.
And no way MR gets over a screen like these guys do. It's my favorite CDD thing, they all fight over ball screens like they are on fire.

@cavanagh Wasn't Reanu one of the first into the portal and to transfer? I felt like he was a "Woody" guy. I'm not hung up on CDD not bringing back anyone. Dumb to think he didn't fully vet those guys and try and talk with anyone who would have considered coming back that he thinks could have helped. Plus, Reanu would have been very expensive to keep. We didn't even need someone that expensive or accomplished. I didn't mind Reanu, but how he played here probably didn't fit well with what CDD values and wanted. I'd have been fine if he was back, but also not going to sweat him not being here. I never thought he was a great rebounder or defender, and that's what I think we most need. But, we did need another post, imo and that will be on CDD if that does indeed cause us issues down the road.
Bailey still has been very bad for most of his career here. The bigs that KSU had were not good at all. They legit had a Neanderthal, I promise that bacu legit has some dna that trace to them. Good athletic guards and wings they had slow doofs inside. The big ten has much better players. As does LOU and UK.

IUBB has to earn some fan interest for the first time in 100 years. Who cares, in fact I think that’s healthy. Earned not given.
