6. Would IU accept an NIT bid? Not being snarky; it's a valid question.
@gthomas that’s a good question. I’m not sure. With the portal opening April 1 (I think) and DeVries needing to recruit I could see IU passing.
Personally, any extra games is good for business and I enjoy.
The NIT has become a "no thanks" event for some power programs. I don't think the tourney will be around much longer.@gthomas that’s a good question. I’m not sure. With the portal opening April 1 (I think) and DeVries needing to recruit I could see IU passing.

@gthomas Is Fox going to rent a couple of hotel ballrooms and run their "Crown" tournament again? Did anyone watch last spring?
I am pulling for the Hoosiers to make the NCAA Tourney but if not I wouldn't mind seeing them in the NIT. Might as well play a few more games and try to win something in DeVries initial year. The NIT semifinals will be played at Hinkle on April 2 and championship game takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on April 5. The men's portal runs from only April 7 - 21. Only 15 portal days this year!
I used to be pro NIT bid. It gave you extra practice and development time with coaches, but now with the portal, I'm not sure that's much of an argument anymore.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

@hooky I think IU will look at it in terms of financial gain as well. Can you make more money than it would cost and can they put that back into the program with rev share and what not. Finances are now more important than anything to acquire talent. If the Crown Tournament paid whatever the number was and IU and players can make money, sure why not? especially if it's before the portal opens
@thehoosierhuddle I hope it's not something we have to discuss when the tournament bids are handed out.

@hooky hope not either. 4-1 or 3-2 with a BTT win probably gets IU in. Although last night hurt IU a little
IU's mission should be to get to 11. Ten B1G wins might do it, but, as I've written many times, why leave it in the hands of a room full of clowns?
Does 19-12 get them in? Do they have to win a game or two in the BTT?
@iugradman 19-12 and they’d need to win a BTT game or two

I almost think 20-11 and win one BTT game ... a loss in the first round , depending on who it's to could be a problem
