agree to disagree. And Scott never intended to "win" that game. It was a practice to work on things and you pointed it out yourself... woody best Tennessee. And Kentucky best Purdue this year. Complete useless comparison
Scott has won a title , recruited well both nationally and internationally, he would be heads and shoulders above what we have or have had over the last 25 years. It's was context to Surjays comment about how it might be harder than you think to attract someone.
Obviously you have something against Scott.
completely agree.. if these kids can move annually. We can move our coach annually. Hell DD left WV after only one year. I have no problem with that. Doesn't work it doesn't work should not mean he's given 3-4 years out of politeness. That went out with disco
Yeah its not a 2008 complete rebuild its rebuild in one or two years with the portal . If you cannot cut it after two years its time to make a change. The fact woodson got the fourth year is beyond ridiculous.
serious if he doesn’t make it this year he should be fired. Not making the tourney in year one when you give Bailey a million should get you fired. Add in letting drew Adams dumb ass back in the program. Just a shit show.
@cavanagh Except when we don't. We're inconsistent. "Suck" compared to what? To whom? As of right now, the unemotional metrics say we're a top 20-25 team. I don't believe in those metrics right now, its too early to rely on them for reliable rankings evaluations... but a third of the way through the season, to go from top 20-25, to whatever your definition of "suck" is... I would think is a pretty big gap and drop off.
I think a fair total assessment, of this team, would be "we're average right now". I'm not impressed by average. And the reasons we're average are even less impressive.
Are we the team that lost the 2nd half lead to Kentucky? Are we the team that led by 7 at half at Kentucky? Are we the team that got down 16-0 to Louisville, or whatever it was? Are we the team that beat Louisville the remaining 2/3 of the game? Are we the team that could have scored 150 on Penn State? Or are we the team that struggled to score 60 against Minnesota? Are we the team that dominated Marquette and KState? Are we the team that struggled to put Incarnate Word and Linenwood away? The answer to all these is yes. Fortunately and unfortunately.
Will we play like we did against KState and Penn State, in all our home games? If so, we might win all of them! Will we play all of our road games like we did at Minny and at Kentucky? If so, might lose all of them. I suspect, it'll be up and down, we'll be roughly .500 in the league. And we'll be a bubble team. I personally don't think that means we "suck". But I would also not be impressed by it, at all.
@cavanagh I know you're prone to hyperbole. But no matter what happens...unless we go like 2-18, and have multiple guys get arrested, and he flips off the booing fans or something... he deserves a chance to bring back a handful of the current guys, have a full offseason, and build a 2nd team.

i
deserves got nothing to do with it
deserves got nothing to do with it. Waste 15 million of my money , sorry you're gone with the wind
we won't make the tourney. And I don't think it will be close. That is termination worthy. If I have to eat crow because he does then so be it but I doubt it.

In this day and age you do not deserve more than two years to prove yourself but we are IU and we give guys four years no questions asked. So even if DD fails to make it both years I highly doubt he gets fired he would need to leave on his own. Facebook IU guys are the worst they were still making excuses for woodson in year four and already claiming you cannot have any expectations for DD in year one basically saying he gets a pass no matter what. Heck many of them were very please with the outcome vs UL because we did not lose by 30.
@hoosiers94 If he lands somewhere in between my dumpster fire 2-18 type finish firing threshold, and a .500 B10 Bubble season, and misses out on NCAA's. I'm sure there will be quite a lot of closed door conversations in the Dolson office, this winter and spring. I still think you hire a guy, you give him at least one full offseason. I used the word "deserves", but I think its probably just what should happen. But everything is case by case. If for some reason, a guy of May's caliber and fit, is legit interested and would take the job, and CDD didn't finish the year strong and have the program obviously moving in the right direction, then sure. But that isn't gonna happen. And you don't move on him for someone like Drew, that might not be any better.
Just like you say I have something against Drew, you sound like a buddy or family member for him. I think he's done a fine job at Baylor. But he's NOT a can't miss, for certain will be successful at IU, guy. And that's the type of guy you make a move on a guy you just hired less than a year ago. Drew was pretty bad his first 4 years at Baylor. Since then, he's been pretty good, with some great years. I don't know if he's a guy that immediately turns IU around, or not. The only thing we can use is his Baylor resume. It took him nearly 5 years to build them up to a nationally contending program. Then he had them as a nationally elite level program for a number of years. Portal and NIL hits, and he hasn't been nationally competitive. He had them where we'd all want to be. Then the portal and NIL dynamics hit, and his Baylor program dropped off. Still solid, but not what we'd all accept, for sure. I think I'm being realistic with what Drew would be at IU. Solid, but not a homerun, can't miss, win the B10 and compete for a Natty immediately, type guy.
Illinois just added a big man that is eligible to play come January. Why can't we do that?
Regardless, it's bad timing for DeVries, because Cig and Clark Lea (Vanderbilt) and Pat Kelsey and Dusty May did it overnight.
I'm not saying that the premise of what you said was wrong, just that Clark Lea left ND to take over Vandy in 2020. He has an overall record of 26-35 there.
@beez And Kelsey was an 8 seed last year, which is barely above bubble status. If IU is an 8 seed this year, that wouldn't be seen as the same level of "turnaround" on this board, that Kelsey achieved last year. Heck, that's where we're sitting in the latest Bracketology. I think many are projecting things that haven't happened yet, and are leaning much more heavily on the bad play we've shown, and not factoring in the good play we've shown.
Myself included. I'm openly not impressed with what CDD and the team are showing, right now. And after supporting him through the offseason, and through the first handful of games... I'm now left with similar levels of bewilderment on why CDD didn't bring a guy like Hansberry with him to IU. Or go get a guy like Dioubute, or the Minnesota big... Bailey, Alexis, Harris was never going to be enough strength for the B10 schedule.
he took over a Baylor program that was in worse shape than what IU was after Sampson. And no NIL. And at a program that didn't have much history at least modern day history
