I’ll never forgive IU for burning a bridge with Dusty. That was the final nail in the coffin for the program. That and Dolson locking in on DeVries early and not going after other candidates.

The dd hire right now us reminding me alot of archie. Hope I am wrong

@hoosiers94 I say who because I want to know who this sure-fire replacement is thats going to have NIL flooding in, is available, and wants to come here. The reason you all can't give names is because this person doesn't exist.

The notion that we fire a coach after 12 games and will have anybody willing to come here is preposterous. Its not happening.

A guy like beard would come but iu is pure as the driven snow they wint touch anyone with baggage so here we are.

@arioznahoosier4554 and again Beard stinks right now with good nil. No reason to think he comes and kills it here day 1.

There's a reason he's stuck in Mississippi

The Vanderbilt coach would likely be our best option.  Friends with Cignetti I believe.

@dbmhoosier They're looking good this year. He'd be very unproven still, though. I don't see why the donors would get excited about that. Also, since he'd need to turn things around in the first 10 games or get fired why would he accept the job?

DD is much more likely to get it done than he is to be fired before two full years.

,

He will get probably three seasons cause that's what iu does. We shall see but so far not impressed.

Agree. He’s not going anywhere now, and he’ll get three seasons to sink or swim. The money that funded NIL under Woodson isn’t universally happy with how things were handled over the last few seasons, so we’ll have to see whether some or all of it comes back. There are definitely some hard feelings that exist, though that’s been the case since well before MW was hired.

Do you think he forgot how to coach or do you think he never was that good?

Why?  They think Woody should've had more time?  That's absurd.  He got a 4th year that no one else would've ever given him especially with Dusty being available.  No one else would've ever hired him in the first place.  If I'm Dolson I tell those donors to kick rocks.

Our boosters are idiots if they supported Woodson. I guess they liked 19 win seasons and missing the tournament.

As much as I want basketball to succeed, it is more irrelevant than ever now. Football drives everything in college sports. If you aren’t good in football, you don’t matter and will get left behind when conferences further re-align and new media rights are negotiated.

@jackskip23 I think he was good but then got fired for cause and didn't fight it. I think NIL/portal has changed the game considerably so which coaches thrive in this era might be different than ones who did prior.

I think he has very good NIL now and his team is not good this year and is projected to finish with a losing record. I do not think hiring him makes all the donors open the pocket books here, so I'm wondering why ppl would expect a huge/immediate turnaround here that is sustained.

Now, if you're telling me we should hire him and be ok with a losing record in year 2 then okay. From what I see of the temperature on IU boards that isn't going to fly unless he's allowed excuses other coaches aren't and a really long leash.

I also know that he's stuck at Ole Miss now for a reason. UofL, UK and Mich did not hire him and none of those schools are "squeeky clean" so that excuse doesn't fly.

I think many of the big donors are indeed basketball ignorant. They were sold lies from Buckner and Woodson so that they could line their pockets and have parties with their cronies. I would also guess that Woodson has done everything he can to sabotage the program and told donors to stop supporting the basketball team. Woodson only cares about Woodson.

The old boys club funded Woodson and probably think he should still be around imo. They wanted access and cigars and wine with Woodson.  I do not really think they care all that much about if we win big or not they just wanted access.

Given the football board now has three times the traffic this board does yes its now all football.  I mean sure assembly hall will rock for big games like Purdue but unless DD can win 20 plus games bbal will be second fiddle at IU from now on.
