I read somewhere today that Mendoza has a 98% chance of winning the award. I think he’s got it wrapped up.
Our 'friends' at On3 (Rivals) have named Fernando to the SECOND TEAM All-American.
That NYT 'straw poll' that they've been running all year and said their final one after the B1g Ten title game was closest by far. They said Pavia got more of the votes than Mendoza did from the voters who switched off of Sayin after the title game. (Like I figured, OSU fan voters... lol )
Doesn't say how many voters polled, looks like about 30ish if Mendoza was in the top three for nearly all. Actual Heisman voting has over 900 voters.
Mendoza 26 votes in the top three vs Pavia 25 votes top three, but Pavia 25 top two votes vs Mendoza 24 top two. Scoring is 3 points, 2 points, 1 points . Just one second place vote difference changes this result. I'm going by Vegas to say this 'straw poll' is a bit of an outlier with far too much margin of error. But it is interesting that the NYT poll of actual voters is this close.
