Well, that was certainly a Top 5 live sports moment for Junior & me.
The PNW is absolutely gorgeous. If the Huddle Shuttle & I have go missing, I'll be living in mountains on some BLM land up there.
Eugene is a great college town. Even the students were chill & friendly.
Pot dispensaries are everywhere
We went to the marker for the Animal House house. Junior's Delta Tau Chi name is "Bison"
I'm going back some year for the NCAA track championships. Hayward Field is absolutely awesome.
The Game:
The stadium is super comfortable. Deep benches and wide seats relative to other B1G stadiums.
Few men's restrooms vs women's. But it had like 100 urinals. Next to peeing in troughs the way god intended, it was the most efficient experience.
For the first half, maybe first 3 quarters, it wasn't as loud as Iowa. They clearly weren't taking us all that seriously. When it got down to nut cutting time and they realized they needed it, they got just as loud as Iowa. Not as loud as Ohio State.
It was supposed to be a yellow out. More yellow than green, but didn't look as uniform as I expected.
Isaiah Jones deserves no worse than 2nd Team All B1G.
Our front 6/7 is top tier. Starting the game with a 1st down sack and a 4th & inches stop set the tone.
Oregon was holding the hell out of our DL and it was hardly ever called.
I know Cig was super pleased with the offense. But I think that's being a little rough on them. They made a lot of clutch plays. Notice I didn't say big plays. A big play in my mind is like a 40 yard explosion. Clutch plays are doing what it takes to keep a drive moving or get into better position. I can't remember a single play that I would ascribe to being "lucky." It was just good execution.
The offense looked like I wished they had looked vs. Iowa. We played our game, weren't scared, & didn't blink.
I can't believe we only averaged 3 YPC. It felt like running was more effective than that. Towards the end, it felt like the 2020 Michigan game where we decided to grind it out at the end and ran over them.
On that note, after so many troubles on the goal line or converting on 3rd or 4th & inches all year, it was music to my ears punching it in twice on the goal line.
Franke deserves a hell of an outta boy putting every kick out of the EZ and making a clutch 58 yarder to take the lead at half
Bonus Points:
Seeing the players & their parents so overjoyed after the game was a great feeling.
Perhaps my favorite thing didn't make it onto TV. During their 3rd/4th Quarter "Shout" transition, everyone was rocking. When it got "a little bit softer now" it got dead quiet in the stadium. Then a "Hoosiers" chant got going pretty loud.
Getting back home at 5:30 this morning sucked, but totally worth it. At least Junior's on Fall Break.

I was amazed that the refs didn’t even know the 2025 rule implemented that states that the DL cannot make exaggerated shifts simultaneously, which saw Bear Alexander for Oregon coming up out of his stance and flailing his arms from side to side. You cannot do that under the new rule. Exaggerated shifts result in a defensive delay of game and a 5 yard penalty. Never called it once. The refs apparently don’t know the rule that was implemented. It happened continuously throughout the game.
@big-red-cb-v-2-0 The TV commentary was trying to stay neutral, but even they got to the point where they were more or less like "Mmmmm, this should probably be on Oregon, not IU..."
Tbh, I wasn’t even aware the pre-snap movement penalty was a new rule this year until they mentioned it on the broadcast. Since Oregon did it several times I looked it up to see if there is language in there that explains why they weren’t calling it a penalty on the defense. However, the description I read described exactly what they were doing. So, I’m a little confused on it. Did the refs just not know the rule and if they didn’t that’s concerning considering that’s their job as an official. The broadcast team shouldn’t know the rule book better than the officials. I can see this being one of those rules that there is very different interpretations such as targeting and can severely impact a game outcome if there’s no consistency in enforcement unilaterally.

lulz, negative. I lack confidence that she could make it through the Rockies. To say nothing of me. She won’t be getting west coast helmet decals for the interior until I’m retired and can take several days to cross country.
we are making the long drive to Maryland in a couple weeks though!

I was hoping the fire and laughing ones would bring you back to the Water Cooler. You are needed, receipt keeper.
Who could have imagined that you and I would be the overwhelming voices reason on the WC?
We'll always have freeloader chat, Brad.
