For those of you who know a lot about football, is Fernando taking the sack to protect completion % v throwing away and avoiding sack? Go Hoosiers!
He is clearly taking the sack to avoid making a horrendous mistake. Tipped pass that would lead to an interception, possibly fumbling it. Did you see the 1st half hit on the Texas A&M qb, who “threw the ball away to avoid a sack” a threw it BACKWARDS, S. Carolina picks it up and scores. Fernando is a smart kid and doesn’t give a damn about complete %
It was concerning. Fernando hasnt thrown it away much this year. Needs to add it to his arsenal.
Surprised Cig hasnt brought it up much. He stressed it last year, and Rourke was better at it. Maybe because Fernando runs more so tries to scramble.
QB stats look better with sacks not throwaways. So I hope it has nothing to do with hanging onto it and feel sure it doesnt. But throways vs sacks can win football games. Since we are 11-0 Ill assume Fernando is doing great even with a few times he shouldve gotten rid of it. Hasnt thrown many picks either. Sacks are much better than those.

This might sound odd, but today it looked to me like he didn't have time to throw it away. The sacks came at him quick.
There were a couple roll outs where he could’ve tossed it OB. Sometimes a sack is OK, but he can’t take hits like this.
I felt the opposite. Thought about three times today it was a throwaway with enough time to do it. Penn State there was less time... This might sound odd, but today it looked to me like he didn't have time to throw it away. The sacks came at him quick.
