4) Mike Shanahan-INDIANA-Shanahan's offense was a major story of INDIANA's resurgence in 2024. It led the Big Ten in scoring (41.3 p/g) & finished just 5th in total offense (426.4 yds/g). 2025 has the makings of a strong encore, due both to strong personnel & Shanahan's position as one of the top rising OCs in the game.

Let’s compare Indiana and Ohio State…
Six common opponents in 2024.
Notre Dame - IU 17 pts, OSU 34 pts
Michigan - IU 20 pts, OSU 10 pts
Northwestern - IU 41 pts, OSU 31 pts
Purdue - IU 66 pts, OSU 45 pts
Nebraska - IU 56 pts, OSU 21 pts
Michigan State - IU 47 pts, OSU 38 pts
Indiana scored more points against five of the six opponents.
Indiana average: 41.2 pts
Ohio State average: 29.8 pts
And Shanahan did it with three stars.
But Hartline must be the better coach because he’s at Ohio State.
GTFOH!!!
Ha, these lists sometimes...
Hartline has never called plays, this will be his first year doing that. How can someone who has never called plays be 3rd best? Silly. And yea I know this list is designed to get a reaction... and it worked!
INDIANA doesn't have the pedigree (yet) to get the respect, but it's coming, especially after this year. Let's Go Hoosiers!
a lot of these lists are nothing more than ranking the schools by prestige.
I think I could come in at #2 or #3 with the elite personnel of an OSU or Penn State under my watch and I’ve never called a play in my life (except from my seat in the stands).
