@irregulars yeah and it’s only going to seat 35k.

Would you be happy with such a small stadium?

@packtherock good. Maybe he’ll contribute some of his millions toward a new press box.

I don’t think the current one is good but it doesn’t affect my fan experience and I doubt the players care.

I've bitched about the press box for years but didn't think it was all that important in the bigger scheme of things. But since Sammy has weighed in about how janky it is, I'd move it up on the checklist several places. If we expect the media to take us seriously, we need to treat them seriously when they're here.

Coach Cignetti mentioned he like to see the Press Box improved before he retires.

@old-crescent I answered you,all you have to do is look at every other press box in the conference.

Pretty sure that’s the original press box with very few updates.

i said it was high on his list not his main concern.I can’t answer why it’s a priority, you would have to ask him.

Yep, that thing is 64 years old and hasn't changed except for when they enclosed the seats right below it.

I've always thought if they just renovated the glass with something modern it would look 5x better than it does.

That thing is an abomination.  Looks out of place and I l’ve seen larger press boxes at high school stadiums.

I don't believe that to be true.  They added suites in the last 20 years, I don't remember exactly when.

@gros-louis Oh, probably the 6th floor ones?  I'm sure you're right, thanks.

@gros-louis the press box is the original press box with the stadium. They enclosed some seats for suites I believe in the late 90s or early 2000s.

The thing needs to go. If I have to sit out in the snow or 100 degree heat to cover the team I will (done it before several times).

it’s crumbling and IU is missing out on a lot of revenue. We’ve been to MAC stadiums with better press boxes.

this isn’t hard.

We’ve started actually investing in football the past few years, but catching up 40-50 years of underinvestment takes time to fix unfortunately.  It would have been nice if a previous AD/President had updated that darn press box.

@thehoosierhuddle How are we missing out on a lot of revenue because of the press box?

Are you talking about lack of suites?  Because that's a different subject.

I like to think we haven't done anything to the press box yet because it's going to be part of a larger project that includes suites.  And not on the East side, facing the sun.

@old-crescent It's the same subject because it should be the same project. Do you think press boxes are just press boxes? No, they're suites with a press box located in them.

It needed to be done with either of the last two renovations. Everything needs to be done with revenue streams in mind.

A poster on the old site said there were pre-covid plans for east side suites.  The sun is an interesting consideration.  We’ll see what they do.

@thehoosierhuddle it’s not the same subject. We can build suites without redoing the press box, although I’m not in favor of that.

but whatever. It’s a subject discussed ad nauseum on the old Rivals site.
