Overall image of the brand for recruiting mainly.

@hurryinghoosiers Why would Cig care about the press box?

He hates it because it’s straight out of 1960, is an eyesore, and prevents us from having revenue producing suites.

At media day, he literally said that thing needs to come down before he retires.

@ccmac to be honest I have never seen a stadium where the press box didn't detract from the general stadium.  Maybe if someone saw one you really liked they could show us.

Having said that, Northwestern took the entire design thing to the next level and demo the entire stadium and now are in the throws of building the coolest stadium i have ever seen....really.

I know the press box is not good (Sammy has to be in that thing for radio broadcasts and has been in most of the Big Ten's press boxes...he'll tell you just how bad it is @thehoosierhuddle). That written...I am sure I am wrong about this but I would not spend a single dollar on anything right now unless you have a clear plan for how it can help you remain competitive on the field. Now, that could mean that redoing the press box gives you the opportunity to redo where it is and thus add suites and premium seating which then adds revenue and helps your ability to retain assistants or helps IU be competitive with payments to players. Once Scott Dolson or Curt Cignetti or Pam Whitten or whoever else has a very clear plan for how redoing the press box helps IU succeed on the field...go right ahead. Until that clear path is laid out, keep the money for what currently matters most: retaining this staff and paying players competitively.

@tjinman1987 oh my god, the press box is so bad. The AC leaks, the elevator is a death trap, the windows are scratched and stuff. Hell, one year one of our writers almost caught on fire when plugging his computer in.

Agreed.  I don't give a damn if people that are being paid to be there or are there on press passes don't feel as comfortable as they'd like.

@gros-louis it’s embarrassing though. When national media come in, they laugh. I don’t need all the bells and whistles, but something new that isn’t a death trap. Also a part of a bigger area with suites and other amenities.

The fact that Purdue has a beautiful press box and luxury suites in Ross-Ade Stadium makes IU look pathetic in comparison.

@iugradman I'm pretty sure the entire Purdue football team was trying to explain that to Coach Cig as he were kicking their asses 66 - 0.  Not sure about their timing though.

Is that a tiebreaker for getting to a bowl game or the B1G Championship game?  We know it doesn't start the game with a 3 point lead because they had 0 last year when we played them.

New practice facility… I’ve mentioned this numerous times… tap in to some other schools within IU, with hopes of attracting more big donors, and building a bigger structure to help cover part of the infrastructure costs for the main football part.  Example… a new Cuban Media center, a new Lilly sports medicine and rehab center, etc… Notre Dame’s new facility is mind blowingly great, and I’m sure is a big part of their recent emergence.  And I’m sure that has already, and will lead to many more coming up with incredible multi purpose, cross platform type facilities.

No.  There are much bigger priorities, if this even is one.

PU has a better press box/suites, but their stadium is dreary and cheap looking like the rest of that campus.  Memorial isn’t perfect, but it has some presence and that north end zone looks great.  When CBS came to town the our place looked pretty good on the drone shots.

@ccmac read my post. I asked why Cig would care or make that a priority

@packtherock good. Maybe he’ll contribute some of his millions toward a new press box.

I don’t think the current one is good but it doesn’t affect my fan experience and I doubt the players care.
