@kkott Im not sure where people are getting this "IU is undersized" narrative. Our DL is a bit smaller, sure, but thats partly by design. They had no problem penetrating Iowa's "best in the nation" OL. Its not like we are trotting out 280lb pound guys, they are ~300lbs. Our OL is only slightly smaller than theirs, I believe Coogan is the smallest guy on our line and he is listed at 311 pounds.

As for the 330lb DTs.. Yeah, Oregon has 3 guys that big. We were never going to run up the middle on this team anyways, you dont run north/south on a 4-2-5 defense. Their DE's weigh 270lb and 260lbs, hardly giants.

Oregon has 3 freshmen DBs in their starting lineup. I cant argue that their DBs arent big though (4/5 starters are 6+ feet and 200lbs+).

Hoosiers 44-21

5-10% chance Moore is unable to finish the game.

Hoosiers get 2+ interceptions, hoping we don't drop the easy pick 6s.

Kamara gets his name called over and over for causing havoc.

Thieneman misses on 3+ tackles.

Our Backs and TEs have a day.

EJ Williams catches 2 TDs, big day.

IU plays well into the 4th quarter.  Oregon rides greater depth and home-field crowd to a late touchdown and wins 28-24.

IU strengthens its ranking and playoff appearance.

At some point we have to get over the hump and finally beat a team like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, etc. I have a feeling this weekend is it.  We're gonna go out there and take care of business in a tight game.

Hoosiers 31

Ducks 28

I like it. But it just occurred to me we're less than a season and a half into the all new Cig regime. And already a few of us saying we need to 'finally' get over the hump and win a big time game.

What a nice problem to have. Grin

@tammany I like a youtube vlogger called College Football with Sam. Just started watching him but he seems B10 centric (UM fan, but not a homer) and he supports his picks with stats. I think he's really good. His basic analysis was that OR will win, but IU will cover. Good analysis and he's very high on IU.

Hope he is right.  If we cover that's a win of some kind.

I know what you're saying and you are right.  What I will say about this topic of IU always needing to get over this hump or win one of the big games, is that we have been on the road 100% of the time in the big ones.  The one home game we had vs Illinois we made such a mockery of them that people devalued Illinois completely.  But when the OSU, ND Oregon, Penn State's of the world are our only litmus test games, they have been on the road EVERY time.  It's ridiculous.  OSU went to Oregon, lost. Then knocks their doors off in a neutral site.  If the games were at IU, I truly believe the outcomes could've been much different.

Next season, we finally get a big boy (OSU...and USC, meh) at home and of course we will need to turnover a lot of our roster.  People will say, "see you had a home game and still couldn't".  That's why Saturdays game at Oregon is important for us to dig deep.  Kill the narrative and let the world know!!!!

Playing well on the road is a hump for us.  Counterpunching and competing with elite teams is a hump for us.  That's pretty clear and fair.

Winning against a top-2 or top-3 team (Oregon's ranks in the AP and coaches) on the road is not really a hump.  It's not really fair to say we need to do this to "arrive" or prove something or whatever, because it's something that rarely happens.

Teams ranked #1-3 have lost at home 12 total times since 2010 (#1 ranked teams two times, #2 ranked teams two times, #3 ranked teams eight times) per an AI search.  Most programs, even the big ones such as Ohio State, have not won this sort of game going back to 2010.  And it probably goes further back, I just randomly picked 2010.

@tammany  Yeah, that math checks out.  It leads to possible false narratives and we don't have much to cross reference.  That being said, if Illinois can win at home vs. Ohio State on Saturday and we beat Oregon.......people better put some 'SPECT' on our name.

Oregon 31

IU 20

We score first and the game is tied at halftime. By the end of the 3rd quarter they wear us down with their depth and win going away. Not many teams in college football have the luxury of depth like Oregon does. And that’s a big deal.
