Little Wire reference there. But do we know? Isn’t today the deadline?

I heard he was supposed to let IU know "soon", but I don't know what that means.

@thehoosierhuddle I guess I’m confused.  Hasn’t the deadline passed?

I assume he is back. No portal, unless word hasnt leaked out. No nfl draft, unless they also take awhile to update.

Cool!

I won’t believe until I see it but if Cooper does return, IU has the best WR room in the country by far next season.

Im going to guess (probably wrong) that he and IU are negotiating/finalizing a deal.  Lets be real, if there is no contract signed, he could leave because the portal deadlines are make believe.

@thehoosierhuddle I guess I’m confused.  Hasn’t the deadline passed?

the deadline is for “underclassmen”. Cooper, like Fernando, isn’t considered an underclassmen because he has completed 4 years of college. This quote is from the draft eligibility rules. Based on this I think it’s possible he hasn’t made his decision as he is not bound to the deadline everyone is referencing.

FIVE YEARS OF COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY. If a college and/or conference allows five years of football eligibility, during all of which players may participate full-time (as distinguished from those which allow a “red-shirt” year, or do not permit participation during one of the

M five years), a player at such college who has participated in college football for four seasons shall be eligible for selection in the Principal Draft if he elects not to avail himself of the fifth year of college eligibility. It is not necessary for such players to notify the League office to become eligible for the Principal Draft under this provision.

So they allow 5 years of eligibility without a redshirt year? Thats worded strangely.

But that clears it up. At least hes not portaling.

If I were him Id bank another years college salary. But, he would get drafted and likely make a roster.

@thehoosierhuddle I would of course be happy if he chooses to come back, but if the mocks are accurate and he has a 2nd round grade, hes got nothing left to prove. At his height/size combo he wouldnt be able to become a first in the draft even with another monster year. My 2 cents, he should go pro while the iron is hot.

Either way, the WR group next year is nuts. How many schools can say they got the established WR1 of two different programs, to pair with a breakout star like Becker? Throw in Morris, Bond, Chandler as depth, we are pretty dang loaded. Im excited to see Morris in particular, I saw clips of him running routes at a open practice a couple days ago, seems like he recovered well from his injury

@hoosierdaddy - If he were at the top half of the 2nd round, it would be a no brainer to go.  I don't think he will get a 2nd round grade.  It's likely 3 at best.  But either way, each round is like a mil difference. End of 2nd is 6mil, 3rd is 5mil, 4th is 4mil (give or take of course based on where in the round you are picked). All are guaranteed contracts.  Therefore, if he were to come back at I surmise, $2 mil, does that still even make it worth it to come back?  Its the equivalent of the avg yearly salary of a bottom of the 2nd round pick. Then he can go pro after this year and get his guaranteed 3yr deal on top of that.

@yothn Can't find it now, but saw yesterday on Twitter a national guy rated IU's draft prospects and had Coop in as a solid 2nd rounder.  Surprised me a bit as I've heard a lot of people say 3rd, but that was his take.  I'm guessing he's gauging things right now and if he's a 2, he's gone, slides to 3 and he's back.
