Looks like ESPN is sending the crew to Provo for BYU vs ND.
I wish we could have one of our bigger games sometime other than noon.
BYU game is on ABC. It’s likely as simple as that.
@yothn I hate that Fox gets first pick. Ohio State as a late game would be insane atmosphere.
Guessing it's the first time ever GameDay has no plans to visit an undefeated team this point in the season and beyond that won the National Championship the season before.
@middawg - The crazy thing is, there doesnt look to be another game thats viable for GameDay. Maybe USC but they've not looked great.
The good news is we now have a ranked win, since Northwestern is #25 today. We need Nebraska and Northwestern to beat Oregon over the next 2 weeks. Then we'll certainly have 3 ranked wins (counting OSU) 😉

Totally agree, OSU and IU last two Natty's and no coverage. I stopped watching ESPN several years ago. The whole top 25 polls are awful. No way LSU or any two-loss team should be in top 25 now. Later for sure but too many teams with one loss deserve better like Nebraska. 5-1 B1G team not ranked is BS. Go Hoosiers!

maybe USC...
@yothn Beat OSU, and all the talk stops, or it should. The USC game could get a GameDay, if they beat Wisconsin and OSU, and we beat OSU and Michigan. I'm not sure if the B10/Fox cares about USC's traveling east, and timing of the games... if not, they'll nab that game for Big Noon, for sure. If so, they might take the NW/OSU game, and "allow" USC/IU to play later in the day, which would open up Gameday. If it were to play out this way, IU would likely be top 3, and USC top 10.
If I'm predicting, we won't get a Game Day this year. Unless we host a CFP game, maybe.
I haven't found a confirmed example of ESPN College GameDay skipping a game that meets all three conditions:
- The home team is the defending national champion.
- The defending champion is undefeated entering the game.
- The visiting team is ranked in the AP Top 5, with the game taking place in October or later.
Several historical matchups provide useful comparisons.
Historical comparisons
| Season | Matchup | Date | Defending champion undefeated? | GameDay attended? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2014 | No. 2 Florida State vs. No. 5 Notre Dame | Oct. 18 | Yes (6-0) | Yes |
| 2022 | No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 1 Tennessee | Nov. 5 | Yes (8-0) | Yes |
| 2015 | No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 9 Michigan State | Nov. 21 | Yes (10-0) | Yes |
| 2026 | No. 5 Indiana vs. No. 4 Ohio State | Oct. 17 | Yes (6-0) | No — scheduled elsewhere |
Is Fox taking their pre-game show to Provo?Guessing it's the first time ever GameDay has no plans to visit an undefeated team this point in the season and beyond that won the National Championship the season before.

Yes. IU/ OSU is on Fox. Fox owns BNK.
BYU/ ND on ABC. Disney owns ESPN, ABC and gameday.
GameDay no want to compete with BNK.
It really is all that simple.
But go ahead a feel slighted people. Nobody respects us.
