@oneeyedundertaker that was probably the single play that said we weren't wilting, that we've got this. It really put a spring in our step after that. O$U's secondary, although highly regarded, was not that tough, now their front seven were truely kick ass.
BEAT PURDUE
The missed field goal. My cat was sitting on my lap and I yelled "he missed it"! Scared the cat , jumped three feet in the air.
@openwheel I was wondering how the chat went. Thought about checking in on it at one point but had to preserve my phone power, forgot my charger.
The TD to Sarratt and The missed OSU field goal are two that I'll remember forever.
Pretty much the entire second half is a big, long, happy memory for me, but, yeah, that last pass to Becker was the one that burned most deeply into my brain, because I was already feeling pretty high at that point, but that was the moment my mind switched immediately from "OMG this could really happen" to "OMG this is actually happening."
Man, so many!
- Mendoza getting hit and writhing on the field, only to come back in a play later
- Cooper going out
- The interception
- Black's breakaway run up the sideline (although I wanted him to give the defender a solid straight arm and battle for 5 more!)
- Their interception... such an odd play
- Becker's streaking catch down the middle.
- Bones Jones streaking across the field to take down Sayin from behind
- Sarratt's TD catch
- Hardy's pass breakup in the end zone
- missed FG
- Becker's sideline grab on 3rd and 7 for a first down and fresh set of downs that salted it!
- Their last play and realizing the clock was at 00 and they didn't get it in the end zone, and no penalties!
For me: the crowd. We outdrew OSU at least 60/40, maybe a bit more. I was wrong…we actually did it. Kudos to all who showed up. I’ll never forget being there. We were loud and shut them up. HOO HOO HOO
The dejection and confusion on the faces of OSU fans throughtout the game. Most did NOT understand what IU football in 2025 is all about--they expected a copy/paste of last year.
A special shoutout to the OSU fan who "whispered" to his pal "Cuban p###y" when Mendoza went down (yes, that really happened). Watching him stumble out of his seat as the confetti was streaming was a god damn joy. Merry Cream and Crimson Christmas, mother######.
Side note: Yes, I considered stabbing him in the eyeball with my straw.
Sarratt's TD catch
That one was amazing, not only for the pitch and catch itself, but the fact that they went for all the marbles when and where they did. That was like 3rd-8 on the twenty or some such, wasn't it?
Becker's sideline grab on 3rd and 7 for a first down and fresh set of downs that salted it!
Yeah, that one sealed it. Another ballsy call that proved to be the dagger.
Hardy pass deflection in the endzone for me...amazing effort to recover and bat that away. I was confident that tOSU was not going to go for it on 4th and felt if they gave Mendoza the ball tied at 13 that he would drive for the win.
But also gotta say that when IU took the field the crowd had me jacked...knew IU was going to play well.

Haha Our seats were right there where the missed FG went. It was a mix of pure pandemonium and utter disbelief.
