I don't think we'll have any issues with this Michigan team. IU takes it 28-7. Entering the Nebraska game, I told someone that Nebraska and Ohio St are the only 2 games on the schedule that scare me. Additionally I would have been convinced IU is a bona fide natty contender vs. just a CFP contender if one of two things happened: 1) We cover the spread against Nebraska or 2) we beat Ohio State. Since neither of those happened I feel like the ceiling of a national championship is a little in doubt. HOWEVER, due to the injuries sustained by Ohio St, Oregon, and UCLA at QB the door certainly is open a little bit wider. Call me crazy, but simulating the rest of the Big Ten season I have us meeting Oregon in the Big Ten title game.

You're crazy.
We really need our run game to get well. That would help Hoover tremendously. Michigan might not be the game that’s going to happen, but sounds like Khobie might be back. I refuse to believe that Beebe and Turbo can’t do better. Or do you think it’s an oline problem. As several mentioned, I was really perplexed that we kept running up the middle.
It's interesting that in Cig's time at IU we've so infrequently targeted outside the tackles in our run game. I think because we've recruited TBs with toughness and ball security being the #1 criteria v. breakaway speed being less important. I don't think he likes the prospect of taking losses in the run game or risking pitches for the potential gain involved. He's got a plan and he wants to stick to it religiously.
CrimsonCast addressed the 'running up the middle' narrative and it's really just not true. It was also pointed out that OSU chose to use 3 DTs and one rush end, instead of the typical 2 DTs and 2 rush ends. Pretty smart and might also tell us a bit more about why Hoover didn't get pressured too much.We really need our run game to get well. That would help Hoover tremendously. For the opposing teams filling gaps to take away our run game, I'd think there should be quicker routes open.
Some of our stuff such as the throw to Turbo where we didn't see Schott, seems slower developing. Which is fine, love to see these routes instead of always 'back shoulder' which teams have adjusted to.
It seems though there should be more routes available behind guys that are playing up. Especcially the way Marsh can roast guys. It is nice also to see him allowed to go deep, but if they need to worry about that there should be quick hitting plays mixed in, like hooks or shorter or even medium dig routes. I guess we do use slants.
The other team is trying too. And in some cases, they have really elite athletes that make it even harder to execute. For the opposing teams filling gaps to take away our run game, I'd think there should be quicker routes open.

If it were that easy, Indiana's defense wouldn't be as elite as it is. There are other good defenses out there besides ours.
Nobody claimed it's easy. Saw some of our shorter routes covered like blankets recently. But then our more creative plays that do scheme guys open are the slower ones.
Elite athletes? Nick Marsh says hello.
A number of our other guys too. We seem hot and cold for a team with our athletes and experience on offense. I love big plays, but not if Shanahan and Hoover can't get on the same page a hit them a bit more. And it's exactly right, against the good defenses is when it counts.

I really like to see quicker intermediate slant routes to Becker, Marsh, and Chandler on 1st down. I speculate that they don't do more because they don't want to get those guys hurt (?). Against the zone, more quick north-south throws down the hash marks trying to split the DBs. Fewer bombs down the sideline as that's not Hoover's strong suit.
Michigan's D is nasty and hasn't allowed more than 20 points all season. If we win it will be a 17-13 type squeaker. I can't see it.
@dbmhoosier They haven’t really played great offense either though. Iowa maybe being the best?
Interesting QB comparison from a buddy of mine who did time in Ann Arbor

@mushroomgod I get there by assuming Ohio St loses to USC and Oregon without Sayin. It'll be interesting to see if Ohio St. goes to Tavien St. Clair instead of Fahey. St. Clair was one of the top recruits in his class so pretty surprising to see a small 3-star true freshman in Fahey come in relief of Sayin. UCLA dropping a game to USC puts us ahead of them in the tiebreaker and facing Oregon who will also only have 1 loss in the Big Ten. If Ohio St loses to USC, but beats Oregon and UCLA still loses to USC it'll be a Buckeye Hoosier rematch for the title game.
How I forgot one of my top preseason projections, will never know.
90% chance Tyler Morris finds himself in the end zone this week.
I gained some grudging respect for Day, being Cig-like on that one, 'everything is earned, nothing is given'.so pretty surprising to see a small 3-star true freshman in Fahey come in relief of Sayin.
Day mentioned that they do like the other kid, but said Fahey was a 'little bit ahead'.

Oregon only scored 1 TD v. Nebraska.....with something like 20 seconds left. I don't think they'd beat OSU at OSU if I played QB for OSU. They also have home games left v. Michigan & NW. I would expect them to lose at least one of those. I'm not a huge fan of D. Moore, but it would different if he comes back. I'm assuming he won't. Just my take...could be wrong...but you asked for someone to call you crazy....
Regarding St. Clair & Fahey, it sure looks like Day is down on St. Clair for some reason. Their fans are freaking out about it.....but he looks like Fahey's the guy unless & until he isn't....
