Mendoza was asked to do a little more through six games - both in the air (threw four passes more per game) and with his feet. 

Hoover has been more explosive averaging almost 2.5 yards more per completion. 

Mendoza threw two fourth quarter interceptions at Iowa and Oregon but came back to lead game winning drives. 

Hoover has yet to throw a pick and led the Hoosiers from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to win at Nebraska. Also, with the defense struggling in the second half vs Northwestern, he kept Indiana ahead the entire half. 

Mendoza was great but he was far from perfect. You can say the same for Hoover.
