I get it but that's insane. This is going to be a dog fight.
I can't see anybody thinking anything other than a close tough game. Sure, one team or the other can run away with it. Could as easily could be them as us.
Go Hoosiers!
I feel really good if we play our game. Not -8.5 good, but good.
@mrhighlife I like the College Football with Sam podcast, because he really monitors analytics and predictives and he's been right a ton. Don't think he's picked against IU all year. His game preview post today, he said IU by 10-17 I believe.
I do think the potential flaw there is how much those #s are influenced by Miami's regular season. They seem to have really elevated their play over the last 4-5 games.

wow that's surprising... I mean we've done that to teams all year so I guess not too surprising but not what I feel. 8.5 seems like a lot. I see it as a 3-5 point game
Miami has arguably the best defense that IU has faced all year. And undoubtedly the best defensive line that IU has faced. This game will be like Iowa, Penn St and Ohio St. Dog fight.
IU has a far superior rushing attack and far superior special teams. The keys for IU are; Don't turn the ball over, figure out how to find holes in that d line, Mendoza needs to get the ball out quick, pin them deep when needed, nail long FGs when needed.

That's what some were saying about Oregon after they shut out Texas Tech on Jan 1.
You guys need to start believing your eyes. IU is a juggernaut, and peaking at precisely the right time. We'll win by substantially more than 8.5.

The ole miss / miami game looked like neither team had a defense
Oregon, Iowa, Penn State, OSU, Bama, Oregon again, Miami has arguably the best defense that IU has faced all year
FIFY
@big-ryan this is how I feel. I'm not going to rule out that Miami can win, but we'll have to play worse and make mistakes we've not seen all year, have a turnover or 2, Miami will have to have success running the ball, and they'll have to play substantially cleaner than they have. They're on a roll too, but that's a lot of ifs.
Miami Yds Allowed Per Game - 292.6
Oregon Yds Allowed Per Game - 273.7
Miami Pts Allowed Per Game - 14.0
Oregon Pts Allowed Per Game 17.9
And these starts are after Indiana put up 56 points on Oregon last week. We've been hearing "this is the best defense Indiana has played" over and over all season. Miami's defense is very similar to Oregon's defense. And we absolutely gashed them all game long.
Do rushing yards allowed per game and team sacks per game. Look for the teams IU played this year that are closest to Miami in those categories.Miami Yds Allowed Per Game - 292.6

One thing to note defensively is Miami doesn't rush the ball very effectively. IUs defense should be able to make them one dimensional and that never bodes well for opponents of IU.
I think if we get to Beck early and often, even just putting hits on him as he gets rid of the ball, he'll start making mistakes real fast. He's been prone to it all year. He single-handedly gave UofL the game back in October.
I expect Miami is gonna come in TOO hot trying to make a statement and its gonna play right into our hand.
