Not sure why the Portal news thread got locked as I would have posted this there. Jaylin Lucas in portal and he put a highlight tape on Twitter. Over 2 minutes of his 2 minutes and 18 seconds clip is highlights from Indiana. 😂
Not locked. Malfunctioning. Trying to fix it.
Yeah, Nick Rodecap suggested that IU should pursue him to return to IU, but I don’t know about that. I don’t see him as a very good RB and we don’t need to bring anyone in from the portal as a project to do a position change. I don’t watch him enough to know if he still has any of that return magic, but I don’t see us using a scholarship for someone who is primarily a return specialist. I could be wrong though. I know Jonathan Brady was mostly used in return even though he got some snaps at wr. For me it would be a pass on JL, but by no means would I be upset if he ended up here. I have complete faith in the player evaluation from our coaches.
I think that ship has sailed.
@olympian97 I was not impressed with Lucas. He was a great KR, but IU rarely returns kicks. He struggled with punt returns, he was a one cut back and couldn’t catch.
FSU fans arent even very happy with how he returned kicks for them. I dont see a spot for him. Way too light to play RB in our system
The beginning of the end for Tom Allen was putting his faith in a 5'6 running back in a large man's game.
Do you run a player that is 5'6 up the middle of a line that can't block? Allen did not leverage his talents. The beginning of the end for Tom Allen was putting his faith in a 5'6 running back in a large man's game.
Jaylin was a Hoosier. So I have no knocks about him personally.
But as everyone said, can't see a need for him on Cig's team.
It was frustrating the way Walt Bell used him though. Of course he didn't do much. He wasn't terrible, which shows in the right fit he has some skills.
I would rather take Solomon Beebe (Lee Beebe's brother) Would be a good 3rd back behind Martin and his brother and is a good kick returner. Lucas is just too small.

@openwheel Yes, he was never a power back so why did they use him in that role, over and over again without success. Too bad they could not develop him into being a good slot receiver. The dude is fast as hell, they teach him how to catch the ball and he's golden. imho
@pazhoosier I would rather we spend big and swing for Hawkins to not go to Ok State. Hawkins is an elite RB with the production to prove it
No offense to Beebe’s brother, but I would prefer we not target a guy who had 300 yards as a change of pace back on a team that didn’t make a bowl in G5
