@hoosierdaddy

i wrote about this in my piece before the season about pff and how i use it.

i really like some of the advanced stuff they have that you can't find elsewhere but when it comes to grades, you should always match what the grades are to what you're watching.

case in point:

iu ran for 367 yards last week...iu had 3 OL's over 70.0 run blocking grade (60.0 is the starting point). how can that be? 70.0 is a fine grade, above average even, but how do you run for 367 at a 7.4 ypc clip and only have 3 guys above just as 70.0?

i watched the game and saw numerous plays by carter smith where his block or seal or ability to get to the second level opened up a hole for a back and he finished at 73.1.

this is where i take their grades with a grain of salt, especially at positions like OL and CB where they don't know the calls because they aren't in the huddle.

edit: great article, sammy. i like the snapshot it gives.

@hoosierdaddy I'm currently out west in a commie controlled state that doesn't even want to let me play DFS.  I return to free state of Indiana next week and hope to load up on some sweet Wiscy bets then.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.
