They play a clean game. No major injuries. Not a ton of penalties. Even or better on turnover margin. ODU is probably good enough to play with us if 1 or more of those things flips decidedly in their favor.
I’m looking at how the DL controls the line and if they keep containment on the QB. ODU is a better run team than pass so keep them bottled up.
We'll raise the flag (or rather, keep it raised) if we play our game according to the game plan and all of the new guys have bought in. I was skeptical last year, every single game, due to the history of the program. While that led me to be pleasantly surprised (to say the least) game after game, I vowed that I'm all in this year and expect us to win. Might be a bad decision on my part, but last year I was just hoping for 6 wins and a bowl birth!
“You serious Clark?”…. IU’s Defense will be the key to most of these non-conf games. Keep the opponent off the field and out of the end zone so our offense and new QB can get to know each other and learn to score… a lot.
Do this, then the B10 schedule becomes more manageable. Early in the season, our D needs to step up and grow confidence. Penn St and Oregon await!
