Had to have been a no-brainer for the Broyles Award committee. Congrats to Bryant, he is incredible at his job.
@thehoosierhuddle congrats to coach Haines. Hope we can hang on to him for a couple of years..
BEAT PURDUE
@tammany It was, there were some other great coaches. It was a no brained and the Ceremony lasted like 2 hours. It was pretty ridiculous
@thehoosierhuddle Yea, I was waiting around for the ceremony to announce the winner and ended up falling asleep before they did.
Haines and Shanahan both deserve HC jobs and I’d very surprised if it’s not their last year in Bloomington, just my opinion.
Depending on how much longer Cig wants to coach, one might stay if promised the job after Cig retires. Both would be excellent replacements in my opinion.
@ccmac Haines is getting $3+ million a year. He deserves a shot at HC somewhere, but unless it’s a P4 job I don’t see him taking it. Shanahan is not being paid as much so I think his options open up more.
Cig is coaching out his contract so 6-7 more years. The “HC in waiting” thing hasn’t always worked out, but Haines seems like he has the tools.
@thehoosierhuddle isn’t Shanahan making $2.4m year 1 of his new contract? There’s not a lot of OCs getting paid more than that
I can’t see us losing either of them for a lateral job switch. They both get paid enough where G5 HC jobs won’t be attractive
@thehoosierhuddle I get it,I forgot how long Cig’s contract is.Shanahan has not been given an extension and raise similar to Haines? If not,I didn’t know that.
@ccmac he’s gotten raises and extensions, but his salary is significantly less than Haines
It's an honor just to see one of our assistants nominated.
HAHAHA just kidding, much better to WIN!
That is cool. Congrats to Haines. And no surprise. What an incredible defense, that came through in every clutch moment and big game.
