Indiana heard all the critics attributing last season's historic success to one of the easiest schedules among power-4 teams. Coach Curt Cignetti will ignore the noise, & he has INDIANA well-positioned to win 9 or more games back-to-back seasons for the 1st time ever thnx to the job he did locking up top returning talent & securing proven transfers.
National Ranking: 16
As Tom Allen would say, EARMUFFS AND BLINDERS!!!! We hear the criticism and we don't care. Let's make it back to back CFP appearances!
If interested, I dug up the earmuffs and blinders video from the past. What a fun team this was, all things considered.

Seems like the fairest preseason evaluation I’ve seen to date. Personally, I see a potential ceiling of 11 wins and a floor of about 8. My gut tells me that 9-3 will be about where they land. We’ll see.
I like the #16 ranking. We are not in the top #10 where the fall can be very determintal, but we have room to move up all season as we win and be talked about every week by national media.
BEAT PURDUE
Ranking aside, Indiana will be 9-0 going into Happy Valley! Let's roll'em!
I'll give my prediction on our preseason preview podcast later this summer, but I will say this: the Illinois game will make or break the season. Win that game and IU has a real path back to the playoff, lose and things get more difficult. IU follows that game up with trips to Iowa and Oregon. It's a huge swing game.
@thehoosierhuddle It’s crazy how big that game is. Bert and that experienced Illinois team will be tough. We’ve just got to win that one…
I'm looking for 10 wins. Go Hoosiers!
No question, the Illinois game will be "the tell".
As Tom Allen would say, EARMUFFS AND BLINDERS!!!!
Yeah, but we wouldn't be able to understand him. 😀
@thehoosierhuddle If this is the question we're up against most years from here on out (conference game against a quality opponent determining whether it's a good or great season), it's a fun time to be an IU football fan.
Eight wins is my floor, but it matters who the four losses would be against AND the manner in which we would lose them. Gotta win the games we’re favored in & be competitive in those we don’t win.
Ten wins is my ceiling, but in a nod to Vesuvius - I will predict 12-0 😄

Playing Oregon and PSU at least competitively will be important. I don’t think we were that bad vs OSU and ND last year, but we have a bit of a narrative going against us that we can’t hang with very good teams. It’s just the next step for IUFB.
And hey, maybe we pull an upset of one of those two this year!
