I’m nervous as hell. I won’t enjoy the game. I will the 100 times I watch it afterwards though. I have the worst FOMO in my life that I couldn’t go. I’m very superstitious so deciding what to do. Been invited to several parties but not sure. May go to my friends’ house who I went to New Orleans in 87 with. We’ve got a history of good luck.

Alabama healthy?

We down Daly?

We haven’t played in a month?

IM ALL FIRED UP!!!

We are healthy, outside of edge, too. We have a team of players who push each other to go the extra mile instead of worrying about their NIL check and 247 rating.

We are going to physically man handle the tide. Bet. They haven’t played nobody. The only physical team they have played all year is UGA, who took half a season to break into form. I just watched the second most physical team they played (Missouri) get beat to hell by Virginia. They ain’t ready for us.

happy new years everyone, and GO HOOSIERS!!! Few days away from our first rose bowl victory

Excited, but nervous. I think it's 50/50 for an IU win. Alabama is good, maybe not the Alabama of 5 years ago but still capable of winning this game. I have my IU flag flying on flagpole, and will be decked out in IU gear for the game. I hope the extended time from when the Hoosiers last played doesn't hurt them. Go Hoosiers!!!!!!

The only thing making me real nervous is the fact that we haven't played in almost a month while Bama has.  I still have nightmares of that 06 Colts/Steelers game where they were extremely rusty, got down 21-3, and lost to a team that didn't belong on the field with them.  If we start out well we should win.

Alabama is tough.

Are they? Talented and athletic? Absolutely. Tough? I don't know, I think we have an edge there. If you look at the 2nd half of their season, last week was a great win, but both teams thoroughly underwhelmed me with their play. Thought it was at least as much OK, fumbling it away, than Bama taking the win. Prior to that they were trounced by GA, struggled with Auburn, walk through vs E IL, gave away a game to OK, cursory win vs LSU and should have gotten beat by USC. Then you're back to Oct 19 and their solid stretch of TN, MO, Vandy, UGA and WI.

I'm more worried about rust than Bama. Would be great if we can put a score up early and get them in a position where they feel like they have to throw. With them getting healthy, I think they might be able to manufacture a run game and I think we're obviously better if we can make them 1 dimensional and I think they'll fall back to that pretty quickly if they get down. I keep hearing we're in trouble if Bama can play their A game, and I'd agree, but when did they last play their A game? I didn't see that last week, even in the 2nd half. I thought maybe they played a C+ game and that was enough because OK was awful. I'd say the last time they played their A game was vs UGA on Sept 28. If we come out and play like we have for almost the entire season, I think we'll be fine. If Bama can beat that team, tip our cap to them. Go Hoosiers!

PS, another aspect of this is that it's not just the SEC fans who spout about the SEC being better, or just meaning more. The coaches do too, so Bama players are coming in believing that. When they see that this IU team is for real and a threat, I think it will be a light bulb moment and erode their confidence. We need to come out sharp and put them on their heels.

wearing our gear on the plane.

That has been one of the funnest aspects of the last 2 seasons, especially living out of state, as I do in NC/SC. It's amazing how many people comment when I wear IU gear, and not just Hoosiers, but fans of other programs, acknowledging that we've become a really good football team. Wear it proudly!

Agree.  The big alumni base thing is of course true, and we haven't had much to be proud of over the last 30 years in the two major sports.  It's very nice IU fans finally have something seriously awesome on our hands in the most important college sport.

Sam here is doubling down.  Thinks it's a really bad match up for Alabama especially if there's rain.

Ready to kick some ass.   Bama limped into the playoffs and probably should've been the 12 seed against Oregon but that wouldn't give us the Bama Assistant vs the Indiana assistant matchup.  Bama can't run the ball and doesn't have a pass rush.  IU will beat the spread.  I will be wearing my IU gear on Wednesday and Friday at work in Alabama and talking as much trash as possible.  I really need my new IU merch to get here.

I've already told my boss when we win Thursday, there's a very good chance I don't make it in to work the next day considering I'll probably still be drinking and partying it up.
