We are hosting a pretty big group and unlikely to get away and walk that far east from white. Just a time issue.
Best place to eat Friday night when we get to town that will give us a good college feel as well as good food?
After Game Day, (maybe we stop by the tailgate if Gopher fans are welcome) or where would a good place to grab a bite to eat be before the game?
Friday night: Nick's is a must at some point -- 1st floor is all ages. Could be a wait. If you want something a little nicer for actual dinner there is an Italian place right behind Nick's (Osteria Rago). If your group wanted a steakhouse, we have a unique hole in the wall dive one that is actually quite good and very IU (Janko's). Uptown Cafe is decent and a little more quiet and upscale, but less college feel. FARM looks cool but the food is iffy. Other places are fine too, those just come to mind.
After Game Day, I'd highly recommend an 8 minute walk over to Mother Bear's (campus location, just off 3rd and Eagleson). This is one of the best places in town with excellent pan style pizza.
Enjoy.
@tammany Mostly agree except the food we have had at Farm has always been excellent. Osteria requires a reservation. Lenny’s across the street from Nick’s is very good. If you are early or there the day before Upland Brewery is a great place but a little ways from campus. Janko’s Little Zagreb has been a steak legend for many decades. Places on the square include Malibu Grille, and the place we are eating Friday, one of our favorites, Samira.
@walt542 Good, I'll have to give it a try again.
Also, for this Gopher fan, Chocolate Moose is quite good ice cream. The old building is missed but still.
Wife and I have enjoyed Malibu and Uptown Cafe several times and the steaks at Zegreb's are top notch but the flavor of IU and Bloomington is Nick's.
@hoosier-clarion I left Zagreb off because I figured it'd be impossible to get a reservation this late, but GREAT place
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle
I wish I could. Sounds like fun and I've always enjoyed putting faces with names, except for @unclemark . I'm guessing that it's Halloween every day with a face like his.
Your mom likes it just fine.

A face only your mother could love.
Don't forget @paterade 's mom.
I feel guilty about using a half day's fresh water for a small Arkansas town to make that image.

@gophauer You've gotten some good suggestions so far. When we would go down with our underage kids, we would try to do Nicks, Crazy Horse, Lennie's, Runcible Spoon, Upland Tap, Mother Bears, and Buffalouies. Most are right dowtown. If you want international, a block south of kirkwood on 4th is Blooming Thai, Amrit India, and Little Tibet. There are others, but these are all places we like.
Duck into the museum north of the fountain and make an effort to see the Union and Dunn Meadow just east of Kirkwood and the Sample gates. That a very beauitful part of campus with the Jordan River (a creek) and all the walking paths.
I hope you have fun.
