@openwheel I wouldn’t mind big game James being a annual participant in the playoffs at VT, one less real contender
cig has more top 10 wins this year than Franklin did in 10

This is a kid that I'd like to get, and I think we're sitting really well for him.
Well if Boogie, Coach Cignetti & staff want him, that's good enough for me:)
The 3 stars we seem to be in on are usually 5-10 , under 6 ft. receivers or db. I would like to see us in on more guys with height and speed. I guess those guys are 4 stars. We have Becker for now. So they could a little shorter, 6-2, good wheels.
I don't think cigs cares about height as much as other factors

We're getting crystal balled by Wiltfong and another national writer from TOS for this kid.
I believe he's being recruited as a DB.
Walker Brysons coach called out cignetti in a tweet saying he isn’t loyal and dropped him for a different recruit. Tried to claim we dropped him to make room for a 5*
unless Lavar keys got re-rates a 5*, I have no clue who this guy is talking about lol

Here's my thing with this. At any point, Walker Bryson could decommit and there was nothing Cignetti and team could do. Lord knows we have that happen in EVERY class. Players would commit to IU before their senior season started because IU was their best P4 offer. Then if they had a great season and obtained better options, they would move on from us. So if players are going to use our university as a fallback option in case they get injured or don't play well, then bounce if they do play well......I am quite alright with IU doing the same in return. If commitments are meaningless to players, they should be meaningless to the teams.

Would be a big time get, picking us over a offer from Bama.

Just goes to show that the kid doesn't always decommit on their own. It sucks but it is what college football is now.
adding torbert and brown would be an amazing start to the class outside of purcell.
edit: i already cut the torbert hudl video for my commitment thread on twitter. torbert should be coming in as cb to iu but played safety and qb in high school. super athletic kid who probably could be used in the kick game too.

The problem then becomes if a coach doesn't understand this, it may hurt us with a recruit down the road who we do want.
But a verbal being non-binding goes both ways.
@hurryinghoosiers - Its possible but we need to remember, all schools do this. When IU needed every scrap it could get, we couldn't afford to lose favor like that. Today, if a coach is unwilling to understand how college athletics work, we can simply look elsewhere.
As we all know, IU needs to build viable depth, everywhere in order to overcome big season ending injuries like Wyatt, Daley, Beebe Jr., Morris, Bonds, or game by game injuries like Evans, Sarratt, Cooper Jr, Baldwin, and Ponds. We have better depth now than ever before, but we can certainly make it that much stronger by maximizing each scholarship for players who have the highest potential to make an impact.
