I thought IU lacked speed in the front 7 on defense.  Need better pursuit from line and LBs.

The inability to run within the line on key plays is a problem.

Mendoza looked nervous.  He had protection after a few sets of downs and should settle.

I like the 2nd TE better than the first.  Can that guy not catch?

@tr32 Yeah, I expected far more from Mendoza as he's a guy with two years of collegiate experience.

Cal fans think their new QB, a freshman, is better than Mendoza. He played well against Oregon State.

I watched a lot of football over the past three days...several offenses struggled and many of them looked quite a bit worse than the Hoosiers did. I understand optimism and positivity is not often popular, particularly when people think back fondly to games like the blowouts of Nebraska or Purdue where IU clicked on all cylinders, but others are pointing out the negatives just fine (which is quite justified and accurate) so I'll focus on the positives.

-I thought Roman Hemby, Kaelon Black and Lee Beebe each looked very lively. That's a darn good trio of running backs.

-The goal-line struggles and the dropped pass by Cooper were very disappointing BUT IU was 10/17 on third down, had 41:28 of possession, 30 first downs to only 10 for ODU and had more than 500 yards.

-IU was only penalized three times for 25 yards and the Hoosiers won the turnover battle 3 to 1.

-Indiana had more than 500 yards while rarely targeting Elijah Sarratt and being pretty vanilla for much of the contest.

-Jonathan Brady looked dangerous and of course, had a massive punt return that proved meaningful. We wondered how IU would replace Myles Price at that spot and Brady looked up to the task.

-It was really nice to see E.J. Williams healthy and able to make a positive impact, particularly in the first half.

Cal fans like their current QB and not the one who left… shocking.

Our secondary is getting thin.  We need Louis to win his case and be able to play all year.  He was good yesterday.

Safety depth is a concern. How concerning will depend on the injuries to Baldwin and Bonds and the Moore case.

Mendoza passed behind a crappy line and still got over 3000 yards.

We either need shorter routes or Mendoza needs to be more trusting of his line and settle down

Yeah but Rourke got the 'it's Indiana...' PFF grade, while Mendoza got the 'rising power in college football' grade.
