We need to make sure Beebe is taken off of special teams, and I’m not saying that simply because he muffed the KOR. If he is going to be the primary workhorse back going forward we need to minimize his hits and opportunity for injury.
This team is definitely not top 5 right now, but I’m not going to complain. I will just trust that we have a coaching staff that is the best at what they do and in time will have this team playing better whether that still means a down year from what we have been used to or improve enough to make the playoffs. We will need to improve quite a lot to beat Nebraska or OSU. So, we will have to improve a lot to keep our hopes for making the playoffs alive. I get we have no losses, but the way they are playing we can easily lose 3 games or more.
Hoover definitely has to improve a lot. He was brought in as an experienced transfer and should be playing a lot better than what we have seen. I get that Cig has to have his back, but he was expected to be much better than he played. If Alberto was the QB I could more easily accept the inconsistent play, but Hoover was brought in to minimize the need for game development. I’m not advocating to bench him or anything, but this team will only go as far as Hoover and the wideouts being in sync with him will take them.
Right now this looks like an 8-4 team which is still relatively good compared to our history. The good thing is that I still feel anything is possible with Cig leading this team. I’m not ready to write them off just yet. Although I’m going to stress every game, I’m going to enjoy the ride and will remain proud of the program and the future regardless of how the rest of the season goes. I’m forever grateful that we have a great coaching staff even if recent results are disappointing. They put us in a position to be disappointed after wins. Seems crazy that we even have negative things to say after what we went through prior to Cig.

Three years ago, we would've been called crazy to predict three 8-4 seasons. I don't see 8-4. 9-3 or 10-2. This is the kind of gut check that was needed. I'm sure the message on Monday will be that there were to many mistakes and the team was too confident, assuming a win.
