$55M buyout. Ouch.
Let the rumors begin
Woah. LOL
And I always thought he was a pretty good coach. Bobby Johnson left Vanderbilt in a pretty good state compared to when he arrived. But Franklin upped it to 9 win seasons from 5-6, 6-5 levels, and 2-10 the year prior to his arrival.

I look at him a lot like I view Crean: he inherited a dumpster fire, brought them back to a high level, but never could get the breakthrough needed to get to the top. Then, once he had a down period, any goodwill he might have built up over time evaporated.
just remember they had Bill O’Brien in between, but he left them for a head job in the nfl. So, he actually started the rebuild, but Franklin definitely was the one who returned them to prominence. I’d be happy to see Bill return. 😄I look at him a lot like I view Crean: he inherited a dumpster fire, brought them back to a high level, but never could get the breakthrough needed to get to the top. This stuff has to get sorted out eventually. These buyouts are unsustainable now that players are getting paid. I can see a buyout to the school if a coach goes elsewhere voluntarily, but if you can't fire someone for poor performance then things are out of control. Look to see more contracts with automatic extensions and big incentives for performance, and buyout dollars getting cut waaay back. Fred Glass moved our coaching contracts in that direction some time back, although we still have had problems with the buyouts.

Keep an eye out for this kid. We had him for an official during the summer.

A portal full of Penn State players should make for some good shopping, too.

Adidas? Hard to believe. Never heard of the apparel partner driving serious athletic dept decisions.

When James Franklin led teams lose, they go on historic like collapses. Remember when IU beat them in 2020, they then lost 6 straight. It needs to be studied.

Ball knower.
Why don’t we just write a blank check and end all this BS.
The university has the resources to do it.Don’t need this distraction for the next two months.
if he’s serious about wanting to end his career here he will want to put an end to all the speculation.
This team has a legitimate shot at the national championship and teams are not going to stop this until they have reason to.
