Don’t understand the need to take the safety there? There were 3 seconds left? Couldn’t run back 15 yards and then just drop down? If a guy catches him and strips the ball, could have been disaster.

The safety only mattered to the betting line (I don't bet). Could you imagine the outrage if the line was 6.5? Lol...the safety was unnecessary, but blowing those other plays dead was bullshit. I told my son the next play Mendoza was going to run backwards to run out the clock but I didn't think he'd take a safety lol.

@big-red-cb-v-2-0 I personally lost quite a bit of money on that safety but who cares at the end of the day, that was Cig sticking it to the refs for not being reasonable. I am just happy we won. That was so ugly lol. A win is a WIN though. The victory flag flies yet again.

I believe the rule is stepping back from the snap is giving himself up. I think someone was watching that game because in the Bama game they went to the long snap and then QB stepped forward and that was okay.
