I’m not surprised they fired him considering how they started.
I AM surprised the way they started considering how much they improved across the back half of last season.
Last year, they were two times a score away from going 7-5 instead of 5-7. To come out so flat this year was definitely a surprise.

I’m kind of surprised they fired him so quickly. Last year he was disadvantaged by Chip Kelly leaving so late. This year was obviously an embarrassing start for them, but thought they’d give him another season to fine tune his staff. He didn’t even get two full seasons. Ryan Walters got more than that and he wasn’t even a legacy.
The comments last year at the Big Ten media days were so awkward. Felt embarrassed for the guy.
I remember one of the podcasts prior to our game with UCLA. The two commentators were saying that this will be a battle for the basement of the Big10.
UCLA actually beat Rutgers, Nebraska and Iowa. There other games, other than IU, They weren’t absolutely killed.. They will finish the season under Tim Skipper, who oddly enough was the interim head coach last year at Fresno State when Tedford announced prior to the season that he would be stepping down.

Unless trying to maintain a redshirt by playing in less than 4 games, not sure there is much reason to enter the portal mid-season. Other teams won't be taking them til after the season.

You can play in four games and retain redshirt status. Can’t play more than four.

Well, that's reason 1, 2 3 and 4 as to why you'd hit the portal now. Especially if you might have an NIL market for next year.
