First, there's no indication that DeBoer's job in his jeopardy.... Anything short of national championships is a disappointment there.
As your 2nd statement indicates, I think at least for loud portions of the whiny, spoiled, entitled Alabama fanbase, they DO want DeBoer out, maybe as soon as a loss to either OU or IU. Missing the CFP last year put him on a hot seat, the FSU loss turned up the heat, and the 2 other losses did not help. He might be out NOW if they hadn't rallied in the Iron Bowl.

Is that story consistent with what you were told? Because that guy doesn't have the best track record:https://twitter.com/realrobreinhart/status/1998929485765423430?s=46

Edit to add: Here's the NY Post confirming. They heard the 911 call:
Is Michigan all that different from Penn State? I would assume DeBoar was contacted by PSU? He may leave for Michigan, its a great job...I think like PSU, its getting up pretty close to the level of job that Bama is, but both have a higher tolerance for 3 loss type seasons every now and then, than Bama does. But I would wonder why Michigan, and not PSU? Personally, I wouldn't want to deal with Portnoy. And that isn't a joke. And I don't mind Portnoy, with how I have to take him. If I had to take meetings with him, like I'm sure the Michigan football coach has, and will have to... ehhhh... nah.
With Portnoy's involvement, and just Michigan's overall vibe, I wouldn't be surprised if its some splashy hire like Gruden, Deion, maybe even someone like Chip Kelly, etc... I don't think a coach currently doing well, and established at an already elite level program, would take the Michigan job right now. So no Freeman, no DeBoar, etc...
Yeah, but even though there's Portnoy, there's still Larry Ellison. Ellison wipes his ass with more money than Portnoy sees in a year.

my biggest concern is that it impacts Cignetti and not for taking the UM job. My fear is that Kalen Deboer leaves and Alabama comes calling. I have been praying since the first rumors of him going to Penn State that Deboer stays at Bama. That is the only program I really fear losing Cig to and especially now that Lane has committed to LSU even though I realize Lane could still leave.Let's hope this doesn't affect our coordinators.
Lane Kiffin and committed in the same sentence makes me laugh. I don't think Cig would take the Bama job and I don't think Bama calls him either.
I would really laugh my rear end off if Lane goes to Bama and LSU gets Coach O or someone.
I’m starting to wonder who UM will realistically go after. The way Kenny Dillingham talks about his love for ASU and why he doesn’t want to leave sounds authentic. It sounds like he has a very unique situation there with his sister and parents living literally doors away and his son’s relationship with his cousins. Deboer doesn’t sound realistic, but that all depends on if Alabama wants him to leave based on what happens in the CFP. Some are saying John Harbaugh if he is pushed out at Baltimore, but why would UM go back to anyone associated with Jim after all these scandals? Who else is really left?
Jedd Fisch is next up for UM with the most chatter right now. We’ll see what he does…
@olympian97 Fairly or unfairly, I guarantee a decent percentage of the Alabama brass wouldn't have a problem with KDB accepting the Michigan job. Poor guy was in the crosshairs the moment he signed his contract. Tough to replace a legend.
If I was DeBoer, Id take the Michigan job. Get a new even bigger deal with more guaranteed, get away from the negative Neds of Alabama. Michigan has a ton of money too.

He shouldn’t leave Alabama for Michigan just like Lincoln Riley should not have left Oklahoma for USC
I can see why Riley and his family might want to live in LA vs. Norman, OK: but I could not see why anyone would rather live in Ann Arbor, MI vs. Tuscaloosa, AL!If I was DeBoer, Id take the Michigan job.
