He was just listed as a potential candidate for the Michigan job on the College Football on Fox page.May be nothing to it but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Too big of a jump for him to take that job now.
@tammany you would sure think so,maybe a MAC or Sunbelt job I could see.
I agree. He’d have to take a major pay cut and have success at a mid-major first. He’s eventually going to have to bet on himself like Cignetti did.
Willie Stein has no head coaching experience, just coordinator experience and he signed on to be the head coach at an SEC school. Michigan is in that top 5 job category that should pull in an experienced candidate who jumps off the page. I'm not sure if they can gamble with a coordinator.

Will Stein is a Kentucky native who’s been on Barnhart’s radar for a long time, so that’s not really comparable. I do agree that UM isn’t likely to opt for someone who lacks head coaching experience, especially after this mess.

Right but were both still coordinators this year? Because that was my point.
I wouldn’t worry about it. I have seen several float his name because he is probably the most sought after coordinator on the market to take a head job. However, he is low on most lists. I think he was like the 10th on one list I saw. I don’t think he’s a realistic option. I would be more worried about him taking a mid level p4 job.
I don't see that happening ... I heard they were taking to Brian Kelly. Go for it. Will just make it all the easier to beat UM
@hoosiers94 I think their fanbase would go insane if they hired him. They need someone pure as the driven snow after Harbaugh and this. Kelly is not that…
@hoosiers94 that’s not happening. A reporter said today he knows for a fact there are multiple powerful boosters for Michigan who very much dislike BK and said there is zero chance of him getting hired. That rumor is again just based on media speculation about where they think they see a fit because of his coaching background particularly at CMU.

Are you asking about Will Stein? He is UO’s offensive coordinator.
@yothn Yeah, I would think he could maybe backfill for the guy who takes the UM job, Ole Miss... He's got enough rep that I could see him get a P4 job. Big gamble though, but he's certainly got a lot of attention.

Yeah, I don't think it's likely, by any means, but it's certainly not zero. Jobs like a MAC school seem to be more likely, but man, schools are going to be desperate here soon.

Kelly is apparently so widely disliked that no one wants to deal with him. Never say never, but he his way back in will probably be a few steps down from what he’s recently experienced. Combine that with his disdain for recruiting, especially in the world of NIL and the portal, and he’s probably done.
