@unclemark With the construction in the mid-2010's it some times took me 2.5 hours to get home. It sucked. Yes, it's just another excuse, but it was miserable.

@low-level-flyer that is impressive. What is it a 10 or 11 hour drive for you? I have a winter place down there. Making that drive six or seven times in one fall is grueling!

@walt542 It is a 10 hour drive. But, wife and I have a small airplane that turns it into a 4 hour flight. But there may be a couple times we drive when weather doesn't allow flying.

@thehoosierhuddle going through that right now. Can’t get that new 69 bridge done fast enough. The twin bridges in evv/hendo completely suck.

Very cool will be when we retire to Bloomington in spring 2028 and we’re that much closer to IU football!!!

@low-level-flyer Given we are an emerging football superpower now we should be a superpower by ‘28.

@low-level-flyer love it. You will keep your place in the south for winters when you retire? I like the combination.

First - outstanding content continues to poor in behind the pay wall by our Hoosier Huddle hosts.

HH public service message: - I'd encourage Indiana fans who enjoy the free chat boards (all boards free) to join Hoosier Huddle.  Helps these guys keep the lights on.  For what they charge they're not looking for fractional jet ownership anytime soon.  😎

Now to Cig, my hero.

I have to pinch myself.  I'm a class of 84 grad.  Five for the Rose Bowl, which wasn't a memory although both parents held IU degrees.  We've not been good for most of my adult life as many here have experienced.

Now comes Cig, kicks ass and takes names from day one.

Backs it up with an 11-2 season with many memorable wins and playoff berth.

Reloads with what could be argued as improved talent in many spots.

Starts recruiting HS talent at a competitive level.

Looking like a preseason top 20 ranking.

This is the IU football program I knew we could have but never expected to see in my lifetime.

Thanks to all here for making this place fun.

Can't wait to kick it off.  Headed up for Indiana State.  Excited.  Go Hoosiers!

As Mike Breen would say, BAAAAAAAAAAAAANG

Thanks Mobile

@walt542 Nope. Selling the place in Alabama. Will be full-time Bloomington. We already have a place there and are there roughly every 3 weeks for a few days. Love Bloomington and can't wait to get there. Probably flying up this weekend for about 4 days. Need to see how my work schedule plays out leading into next week.

To be fair, AH is significantly smaller than Memorial, and the student body does a good job at filling AH on its own. To pack Memorial requires tens of thousands more people to come down and visit, and unless you live locally its a tough trip to make. The closest real hotel capacity for a football game in Btown is Indy/Louisville and doing the ~3 hour round trip drive

All fair points. I still think the highway was more an excuse than an impediment.

Agreed, I just dont think were ever going to be able to be able to consistently pack the rock. For games where we arent playing a big brand or ranked opponent, its just hard to get people to want to commit to that much travel/spend. Take the Indiana State game, its just not a crowd draw

We've been burned too many times to jump in feet first at the first sign of success (yet again). Continued and consistent winning and building a culture around that winning will take time. Build that and they will come.
