Anyone have insight on Saturday’s celebration at the stadium?

Trying to decide how early to get there.  With the cold I’m not sure how many folks will brave that situation!

@muubell Sure wish they would change it, but I’m sure they want to do it soon as players will be leaving town. Sounds like weather is going to be awful.

They need to move it to Assembly Hall.  10* and snowing will not work at Memorial.  Honestly I’m not sure what IU is thinking.  Frankly it needs to be Friday at this point with the storm coming in.

@tammany I say heck with that. Move it to Lucas Oil and celebrate with the whole state! They could do buses for students from campus.

100%

As soon as it was announced my wife assumed Junior & I were going.  Then I checked the forecast & noped out of that immediately.

I don't care how they do it, I don't care if they limit it to students, but it needs to be in Assembly Hall.  There are enough old people who have hung on for a time like this that don't need to freeze to death in 0 degree wind chills and potentially snow.

I think they could do two events: AH and somewhere in Indy (Lucas Oil or Gainbridge).

As for Saturday, I'd absolutely go but I am not standing outside in 10* weather with some sub-zero windchill.

@tammany I remember going down to an IU v IL game around '82 or '83 (wanna say their QB was "Champaign Tony Eason?) and it was around 17 degrees if I recall. Coldest I've ever been in a stadium. I don't see how they can go forward with the weather forecast.

From IU this morning:

AN UPDATE ON THE IU FOOTBALL COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION

The Indiana Football College Football Playoff National Championship celebration, scheduled for 1–1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at IU’s Memorial Stadium, will proceed as planned.

Consistent with all IU Football events, IU Athletics is consulting regularly with its meteorologist and is aware of the below-average temperatures predicted for Saturday. In making this decision, we considered that this weekend’s predicted snowfall is not expected until Saturday evening through Sunday, well after the conclusion of the event.

By keeping the celebration at the stadium rather than moving it indoors, we aim to minimize the total time attendees are exposed to the elements. If the event was moved to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, we anticipate fans would spend multiple hours standing in lines to secure entry.

Additionally, we want Hoosier fans to have the opportunity to see and hear from as many members of the championship team as possible. If the celebration was delayed, many players would likely be unable to attend as they would no longer be in Bloomington.

In light of the cold temperatures, fans are encouraged to dress warmly and remain in their vehicles until close to the 1 p.m. start time. Should the weather forecast dramatically worsen, we will provide further updates as necessary.

Why does it take so long to get into assembly hall?

I'll be impressed if they get a good crowd for this.

A lot of softness being portrayed in this thread.

Indiana football plays Fast, Physical, Relentless not impacted by success or failure, 1 to 150.

Next challenge is for the Sallys calling themselves fans to toughen up and have some grit and determination in Victory Celebrations 1 to 16.

Paint the IU Trident on your bare chest, male or female,  and celebrate this team Saturday to the upmost in Memorial Stadium, be loud and proud.

Hoping there is live feed of the event and celebration so I can watch from 70 degree Florida by the pool.

My question was more 'if it takes so long to fill assembly hall, no wonder the games haven't been packed'. lol
