I must’ve missed something. Is he out for a while? Cig said his db’s were “day to day” then said “we expect to get Sharpe back.” Is that a wake up call, Cig style?
AJ was caught wearing a gold cast
We don’t know the injury details but he had some kinda ankle/foot issue in fall camp and another injury in the North Texas game (same issue as fall camp? Maybe, but unknown).
No sense in rushing him back vs WKU.
Believe one of the greatest intangibles our teams rely upon is cohesion and not building that at game speed or in high leverage moments in games is a increasingly difficult thing to ramp up the further AJ goes not playing.
Unless I'm not recalling correctly, AJ was mostly in man coverage at Penn St. and the Hoosier defense is nearly exclusively zone.
@middawg I thought I recalled that PSU changed defensive coordinators last year to one that used more man coverage, vs zone the prior year, when Harris had better numbers? Thought that was partly why folks hoped he could return to the prior year's form.

Tom Allen zone?
Could be, honestly don't remember.
I recall it being mentioned that Harris's numbers were better 2 years when in a system closer to what we run.
Also, didn’t we use a hybrid last year where Ponds played man on the boundary and the others played zone mid and field?
Cignetti has said due to skyrocketing prices the roster build may have a few more holes than he otherwise might have filled with a veteran. Along with no spring portal, being in the playoffs so long, etc.
Not that Harris is a hole. Just seeing that Cignetti went after a few guys that had some past injury history, whereas before that rare. "Availability sometimes is best ability." So I think with prices up, he modified some of his criteria, selectively. In this case maybe not injury just a bit more risk on performance.
Optimistic about Harris. If he's healthy soon he could be a good piece. Still early, time to learn. Work the snap count up over a few games.
