Besides Hoosier Huddle, just look for "It's a great day to be an Indiana Hoosier!" That one is always money. This is where you say "IU is trending for a top WR committing today" and leave the rest up for assumptions and false hope lol
@openwheel Coach Eddie sometimes just says that because it is a great day to be a Hoosier, haha.
They didn't list Carrasquilo's offer from Ohio State yet.
Maybe OSU hasn't heard.
,
I think he was committed to play there, for lacrosse.
Could have that mixed up with another kid.
@thehoosierhuddle So, I have to be the first noob to ask: with this kid and Sharpe, is IU not feeling great about Sales, or Sales is just that good? From recent history, doesn't seem like either of these kids would be expected to play as freshmen outside of special teams, would you agree?
@kkott IU is going to need a big WR class in 2027 whether it's HS guys or portal, so I don't think there is panic in IU. Morris and Preston will both be out of eligibility and Marsh and Becker are both projected 1st Round picks (it's early). So that's four potentially out the door.
I don't see Sharpe or Jordan playing super early like you said, probably special teams (especially if the NCAA goes to this 5 for 5 thing).
To add to Sammy's points.
Cignetti in two seasons has shown he loves to have 5 or 6 high level WRs to plug and play.
Hell, Becker was WR5 last offseason before the Morris injury.
In year one, Williams and Cooper were 3,4, or 5 on the depth chart in some order right.
Plus Sales, unless disaster strikes, is three and gone.
Plus, elite WRs are one of the most expensive positions to portal fill.
Is Mason Ogelsby announcing his commitment today? Is Kansas still the front runner? Thanks
@it-will-do Once IU was out of it, I stopped paying attention. 99% sure it's Kansas. I don't know if he's announcing today or not
Going to make kind of a controversial statement, but it seems to me that when it specifically comes to high school recruiting, there is still kind of a glass ceiling for IU that even winning a national title couldn’t completely break. Of course the portal makes up for that in a big way and there’s probably nobody better than IU right now at navigating the portal. I think there’s something to what I’m saying though. What say you? Am I way off-base?

I think it is just a product of Cigs having a limit on what he will spend on unproven high school players whereas other schools are less stingy on that front. Maybe his HS allocation is also tied up trying to get Sales and Brewster.
So while Cig's goal was to build via recruiting high school players, the end result may continue to be portal (for our starters anyway) given how he wants to spend the money.
@jj_mcclure Don't see it, and I don't think you do either. Last year we were the losingest program in all of D1, and made the playoffs. Nice story, but that's what most thought it was. Remember being an underdog at home to Illinois? That's when most of the country realized, IU might not be a 1 hit wonder. Of course, then we followed it up a few weeks later by winning at Autzen and the magical season was well underway. So that was what mid October? Just a few weeks ago we had three 5 stars on campus, including the #1 recruit in the country, and were picked to land one of them. We just got commitments from a 4 star and 2-3 three stars. Is McDermott the highest rated commit IU has ever had? I don't know what your expectations were, but in 3 months, we're not going to get 20 5 stars for 2027 knocking down our door. The progression is well underway, to the point we've got OSU stealing away one of our commits? We're well on our way with both on the field and recruiting success. In 2 years we've gone from one of the least desirable destinations in D1 football, to entertaining multiple 5 stars and our commitments being all 3 and 4 stars. We're on a great path! In Cig We Trust!
@jj_mcclure Matt Weaver and I talked about this on the podcast on Wednesday night, Cignetti is not in a rush to take commitments right now. They are going to see if they can land some big fish first and can always circle back to some guys.

Sales is the type of kid that you take no matter if you have a need at receiver or not, if he wants to come.
Cig isn't taking someone right now who they don't feel can contribute down the line. They like both Sharpe and Jordan with what they both bring.
@boogie Correct. There's a spot for Sales. Cig isn't taking "filler players" it may take a year for them to be ready to be in the regular rotation, but the path to playing under Cig has is pretty clear.
