WR Makai Jackson- Jackson played in four games for the Hoosiers and made three catches for 15 yards. He left the team earlier this fall with the intentions of entering the Portal. He was hampered by a hamstring injury that had him fall down the depth chart. (One year left to play)
DB Amaryion Knighten- Knighten announced he was going into the portal on January 2nd. He played in just two games for the Hoosiers after transfering from NIU. (One year left to play).
OL Mitch Verstegen- Did not see any games in his two seasons in Bloomington.
DL Andrew DePaepe (UMASS)- A redshirt sophomore who came in from Michigan State. He played in three games this season and made two tackles
DL William DePaepe (UMASS)- A redshirt freshman who has played in one career game and has one career tackle for loss.
DL Aden Cannon- A walk-on defensive lineman, Cannon had not seen any game action. He did excel in the classroom as a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection

@tammany Why are we (not directed at you) just assuming Alberto is going to leave? I get that's what forums are for, but Alberto was recruited by this staff out of high school, brought to IU by the staff and is thought of very highly. It was 49-22 before that last touchdown and Oregon can score in bunches. After that last TD it seemed like Alberto was going to go in, but IU didn't get the ball back until there was 22 seconds left. Basing something off a quick glance on TV is a little silly too.
Portal closes in three days and there is NO indicator that Alberto is either upset or hinting at transferring.
That would be great and ideal.
I’m just wondering if Mama Mendoza and everything with Alberto is all speculation. There hasn’t been anything concrete like you said.

I have been assuming that it's far more likely than not, that they already have a deal in place, and he is staying. But I also think it possible that he may have expressed opinions on his own status when we grabbed Hoover, as many say he did about getting his brother... But I don't know.
Then a post popped up speculating he may leave. It says 'Wiltfong says' he feels Alberto will portal and we'll grab another QB. I had to look up who Wiltfong was... An On3 guy.
Not a big deal, this forum won't influence Cig or Alberto all that much.

Pretty sure I heard the two teams in the championship game have five more days, after the game, to deal with the portal.
If Alberto leaves IU, I say best of luck to him. NCAA football is big business and the portal and recruiting over players is part of the scene. Cignetti has a history of wanting heavily seasoned senior players in the QB role to give his teams the best chance of winning. This is why he got Hoover.

Losing Ponds to the NFL is a blow. Some of the new guys and two deeps will need to step up. Opportunity.

If Alberto leaves, we could regret it as soon as this coming season, if *fingers crossed* we have an injury.
I think we will definitely regret it the year after, unless Cuban doesn't care about the size of the check to bring someone in. (And maybe Alberto could come back anyway.)
I'd prefer we write a smaller but still significant check and keep Alberto.
Maybe Cherry or one of the other recruits can take over in two years. Counting on getting someone from the portal every year who works out seems quite speculative.

I can't imagine at all that's what she was frowning about ... look at what Cig has done done for her other son. Yeesh. And to me I think she was getting annoyed with all the people trying to get selfies with them than anything else. What were those people thinking. Leave the people alone. I don't know if Alberto will leave , but if he's not good enough then he's not good enough. That life
Today ... he just needs one break out year to prove himself. So taking the time to learn and mature ... that's invaluable from the best .. and it being his brother. Wow how cool. Now next year even still, never know what happens. Hoover could get hurt, or maybe he just beats him out. I'm sure Cig will give him the opportunity to do that.
