Damn. Dues is out now? Are they making room for portal guys or something?
Hoping this means we have a commitment from Sieg coming!
@olympian97 Possibly and they are in play for Matt Sieg as well
Sieg would be a sweet get.
I'm sure he has a good relationship with PSU's staff, but VT and the ACC isn't PSU and the B1G.
@tammany given the opportunity to play early in our safety room, you would think safeties would be lining up to play for us
The ACC is an irrelevant conference at this point. They might not even get a team into the playoffs. I can’t see them putting a potentially 3 loss ACC team in over 12-1 JMU
Monshun Sales is posting a lot of IU stuff, especially around the Lawrence North to IU connection

@thehoosierhuddle Saw some rumors that Sales might be reclassifying to 2026 class?
This may be a product of him thanking LN in a tweet which some people took to mean he was leaving which he seemed to dispel in a later reply to a comment on that tweet. Idk though.@thehoosierhuddle Saw some rumors that Sales might be reclassifying to 2026 class?
@olympian97 Yeah, no one else confirmed it. Also looks like IU is out of the running for Sieg.
His loss.
I feel kind of silly even asking this, because if I were given the choice of whether I’d rather win recruiting battles or win games that’s an easy answer. However, it is mind boggling to me that regardless of our history that we can’t start hitting on some of these higher profile guys. I mean Vandy just flipped the #1 QB in the nation and while they have performed well, they have not performed to our level. Are we just not offering as much $ to hs recruits and saving for proven guys out of the portal? For anyone wanting to jump in and say that because Cig says production over potential means he doesn’t want to recruit the high profile guys I think his comments about OSU says otherwise. So, if he sees there is a gap what’s the issue in closing it more than we have? Oregon to me has the best quality class. We aren’t even in the top 25. It feels like our recruiting, although improving, should be better based on what we have proven on the field. if we’re just focusing our resources on winning the transfer portal that’s cool. I’m just curious why we aren’t flipping more prospects when imo we have the best staff in America. Keys is nice and I realize we have gotten a few decent flips, but it would be a great feeling to have at least one guy rated as a 5 star by multiple services committed at some point. It’s not a complaint as much as just a curious observation. If we can develop these players to maintain this same level of play in the future I will be more than happy, but part of me is concerned the staff hit on some rare jewels that will be hard to replicate at the same level in the future after they are gone (Ponds, Fisher, Kamara). I guess until proven wrong I will trust in their evaluation, but just find it interesting that there’s so much movement right now amongst the top teams and we aren’t really even in the conversation even though we have a billionaire booster, the largest alumni base, and arguably the best coaching staff from a pure development perspective.@olympian97 Yeah, no one else confirmed it. - @olympian97 you bring up valid points, but ill reiterate this. There are less than 40 5* star prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
- It would seem like Cig has a price per position as well. Personally I don’t see the value of over paying for a high school quarterback that will not play next year.
- IU will have a large portal class again and will go after older and proven talent.
- High school recruiting ranking have never been less relevant than it is now. While IU has to start balancing portal and high school classes more, “winning signing day” doesn’t necessarily translate as much these days.
I think character is a very big deal with IU’s staff. Maybe the guys that are available to flip they just don’t see fitting the culture? Also, I’m sure they are looking for guys that can develop a lot. They know what they want and they have shown to be excellent evaluators and developers. Stars mean nothing.I feel kind of silly even asking this, because if I were given the choice of whether I’d rather win recruiting battles or win games that’s an easy answer. This is one of the best classes IU has ever had and it was based on one good season. I expect the 2027 class to be pretty elite.
