BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announced on Sunday (Oct.1) afternoon that Rod Carey will replace Walt Bell as the program’s offensive coordinator, effective immediately. Carey has served as a quality control coach with the Hoosiers since the start of the 2022 season, while Bell served as offensive coordinator over the same period.

The Indiana Hoosiers and Maryland Terrapins have played very entertaining games for the majority of the time they have clashed in the Big Ten. That was decidedly not the case on Saturday in College Park as Maryland had its way with the Indiana Hoosiers and pulled away for a 44-17 victory to drop IU to 2-3 on the season. IU entered the game needing a positive response after a concerning performance against Akron but Maryland jumped all over the Hoosiers and cruised to a dominant victory.

It does not take a keen eye or a world-class knowledge of the Xs-and-Os of football to realize that the Indiana Hoosiers have problems on offense. On defense through the first third of the season, the Hoosiers have allowed just 19.5 points per game. That comes after having faced an NFL-talent loaded Ohio State team and a top ten scoring Louisville Cardinal team.
