Indiana football was back on the practice field on Monday morning to kick off week two of fall camp. With the season opener just 26 days away, the Hoosiers continued to prepare for chapter three of the Cignetti Era.

Indiana Practice Basics

  • Practice was inside the Mellencamp Pavilion as storms moved through the area in the pre-dawn hours.
  • The improvements to Mellencamp are night and day from what it was. IU has added plaquards for the Big Ten and National Championships on the wall as well.
  • Players were in shoulder pads, helmets, and shorts
  • Tyrique Tucker, Joe Brunner and Isaiah Jones led the flex period with Brunner giving the pre-practice hype speech.
  • During indoor practices, it is easier to watch the offense than the defense.

Indiana Practice Observations

  • The focus is still on the details. Multple drills were attempted a second time so that they could get the right look from the “opponent”. Coaches would get on players if their spacing was off by the tiniest margins as well.
  • Kellen Wyatt was back participating at practice and will be wearing number 18.
  • Tyler Cherry continues to look more and more comfortable on the field and has shown off his arm talent.
  • Tight end Brock Schott made some nice catches on balls thrown by Hoover. They were good throws and Schott handled them well.
  • Freshman wide receiver Lavar Keys stood out to me today as a player with good hands and fluid route-running abilities.
