We slowly inch closer to Indiana kicking off against North Texas in the Hoosiers’ season opener on September 5th. As we run our countdown each day at Hoosier Huddle, we now line up at day 88, where we highlight #88 Brock Schott.
2026 Countdown To Kickoff: Day 88 – Brock Schott
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 241 lbs
Hometown: Fort Wayne, Indiana
High School: Leo
Class: Redshirt Freshman
Position: Tight End
Previous School: Miami
Brock Schott recently transferred to Indiana from the University of Miami, and there seems to be no more excitement about his potential ceiling. As a recruit, he was rated 4 stars by 247 Sports Composite rankings and was ranked as the 266th best player in his class. He received offers from 31 programs coming out of high school, something you certainly do not see every day!
Among those 31 offers, big-time programs like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Missouri, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and many others were represented, including Indiana. Eventually, he committed to Miami, but Indiana’s high school recruitment of him must have struck a chord (or, maybe it was the National Championship), as he decided to transfer back to his home state in early 2026, and Hoosier Nation could not be more excited.
247 Sports’ recruiting analyst Greg Biggins evaluated Schott in early 2024 and said the following:
“Dominant two-way player who looks like a high major prospect at 2-3 different positions. Recruited more as a tight end but flashes just as much as an edge/outside backer on film. Plus athlete who probably runs better than any tight end in the class. Gets easy separation and pulls away from defensive backs.
Put up crazy numbers as an edge/outside backer as a junior with 67 tackles, 32 for loss and 19 sacks. Gets up the field and blows up whoever has the football. Can take inside screens to the house and shows the ability to move around and line up anywhere on the field- slot, out wide or inline. Tough kid who shows the ability to chase down plays from behind on defense and you love the motor he plays with.”

Now, this evaluation is of course, a bit dated, as Schott is now a full-time tight end and is two full years older, but there is a lot of good to take from this. He is incredibly athletic, plays tough, and brings a high motor to the field every time he plays. If that doesn’t sound like a prototypical Curt Cignetti-type player, I am not sure what is.
In his previous two seasons, Cignetti and Shanahan have operated with very experienced tight ends at the starter spot. This year, the tight end room is filled with youth. Schott very well could be the starter on day one and has the potential to be one of the most dynamic players on this Indiana offense both now and into the future. Look out for this one, folks.
