4-Star Defense End Myles Smith Commits to Indiana

Farmington’s Myles Smith wraps up Birmingham Seaholm’s Casey Goetz for a loss during an Oakland Activities Association-Blue football game on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

The Indiana Hoosiers landed a top-250 recruit on Thursday afternoon when four-star defensive end Myles Smith announced his pledge to the Hoosiers on YouTube.

Smith, rated as the 246th best player in the country by the 247Sports Composite rankings, chose Indiana over Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He was in Bloomington for his official visit on May 15th.

Smith has the potential to be a foundational piece of the future Indiana defense. He had an outstanding junior season for the Farmington Falcons, totaling 85 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six sacks and four forced fumbles. His 6’5″ frame can handle the bulk needed to transition to the Big Ten and play both as a down lineman and a stand-up edge rusher.

He is a tremendous athlete and excellent in both football and basketball. He checks off a lot of boxes Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti looks for in a recruit’s athletic ability, including flexibility and bend. His wingspan should also allow him to be a game-changer on the edge. There were reports out of Michigan that he was a “must-get” for the Wolverines. He is that kind of defender.

Smith’s recruitment really blew up after his junior season and in a January interview with the D Zone, he said, “I try not to focus on it too much. I keep my head down, keep working. People are going to figure out who I am, you know, if they don’t, they don’t” in regards to his recruitment.

In the same interview, Smith said he started focusing on football in ninth grade and thought that he could make it somewhere on the gridiron.

Smith told Rivals.com during his recruitment that he chose Indiana because of the scheme and that the Hoosiers are getting a “hard working guy” who does not take any days off.
