The Indiana Hoosiers picked up a commitment from three-star cornerback Rico Jackson on Saturday night. The Maryland native was on his official visit to IU this weekend.
Jackson is Indiana’s fourth commitment of the 2027 cycle and comes from a program in Quince Orchard that has gone 14-0 in back-to-back years.
While his profile lists him as a safety, Jackson projects as a corner at the next level. He chose Indiana over Penn State and Virginia Tech.
What Does Rico Jackson Bring to IU?
Jackson will be playing cornerback at IU and he did so as well in high school. At 5’10” and 165 pounds, he’s not afraid to mix it up and get involved in stopping a ball carrier. He also has good ball skills. Quince Orchard also used his as a return man, where he showed the ability to break tackles and run by people. When he played safety, he showed his ability to chase down receivers. He was also used on offense.
The Hoosiers are getting a physical defender who has the speed that translates to corner with the ability to make plays with the ball in his hand as well. He’s not afraid to be involved on special teams either, which is something IU prides itself on and is a path to playing time.
