‘Unfinished Business’ Brings Indiana Receiver Ty Fryfogle Back to Bloomington

The Indiana Hoosiers had the best seasons in their school’s history in 2020 by going 6-2 and finishing 12th in the AP Poll. Hoosier wide receiver Ty Fryfogle was one of the contributing factors behind Indiana’s rise to success. Fryfogle hauled in 37 catches and had a career-high in both yards and touchdowns with 721 yards and seven touchdowns. He could have declared for the NFL Draft and played in the pros, but something was holding him back.
“There was a lot of things that factored in. Of course, how the season ended.” Fryfogle said. “With this football team, I feel like we still left some stuff on the table. We got a lot more that we can accomplish. The future is bright for this team.”
Last season, the Hoosiers came up short in their meteoric season. They ended the season with a 26-20 loss to Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl. However, that was last season and the spring blooms a fresh start for the Hoosiers. Fryfogle especially is excited about the new season and is eager to sharpen his skills.
“I can obviously get better at everything. There’s some specific things I want to get better at. Learning defenses, cleaning my routes up, top-end speed, I can get better at everything. I feel like I’m not great at everything I still have a lot of stuff I need to work on and get better at and that’s my goal this spring.” Fryfogle said.
Fryfogle is not the only Hoosier looking to improve this spring and help the team get over the hump. Linebacker Micah McFadden is also looking to improve to help the Hoosiers on the defensive side of the football.
“I think it’s just mastering my craft. Getting all my individual technique down, all my footwork down, and being a leader out there.” McFadden explained.
In the time since both McFadden and Fryfogle have been in Bloomington, they have never been able to beat Ohio State. The Buckeyes are among the nation’s best teams and are a favorite to win the Big Ten again. For the Hoosiers to play in the Big Ten Championship, they must first avenge last year’s lone lost. However, Fryfogle is confident this could be the year that Indiana pulls off the upset.
“For sure. Like I said we have a lot of great guys coming back. This football team is going to be really special.” Fryfogle answered when asked about the chances of beating Ohio State.
