Talented Transfer E.J. Williams Commits to Hoosiers

Indiana University’s passing attack needed some reinforcements after some transfers out of the program and they have turned to the transfer portal to plug the gaps and provide a boost in talent. After a visit to Bloomington this week, E.J. Williams has committed to the Indiana program to fill that void. Williams becomes the highest rated high school recruit to ever play for the Indiana Hoosiers. The former Clemson Tiger was a five-star recruit from Alabama in the class of 2020 and considered the 69th best prospect in that class. His career with the Tigers did not go as planned but he is well worth taking a chance on given the talent level.

At 6’3”, Williams has great length and size and his long strides make him a threat to stretch the field. The production has never quite matched the potential and he’s clearly hoping a change of scenery will help him unlock things. In 2022, he played in five games for Clemson with seven catches for 70 yards. 2021 was not a whole lot better as he only had nine catches for 66 yards for a struggling Clemson attack. His freshman season was by far his best. In 2020, Williams had 24 receptions for 306 yards with two scores. He had four catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the ACC Championship Game against Notre Dame and five receptions for 45 yards in the College Football Semifinal versus Ohio State.

He joins a wide receiver room that is expected to have Cam Camper back from injury and Jaylin Lucas moved from running back. That group plus Donaven McCulley, Andison Coby, Kamryn Perry and Omar Cooper provides some excitement and hope for the passing attack. The biggest question for all of these players probably revolves around which quarterback will be throwing them the ball.
